MICHAEL S. ASKENAIZER was admitted to the State Bars of California in 1980, New Hampshire in 1995, and Massachusetts in 1996. Mr. Askenaizer has practiced with the law firms of Joseph Bernfeld, P.C. (1980-1982); Pacht, Ross, Warne, Bernhard & Sears, Inc. (1982-1985); Shea & Gould (1985-1989); Tilem, Buxbaum & Askenaizer (1989-1991), and as a sole practitioner (1991-present). His practice has emphasized insolvency and bankruptcy. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees, and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. In 1982, Mr. Askenaizer published "1981 California Courts of Appeal Survey: The Hearsay Rule and its Exceptions," 4 Whittier Law Review 375 (1982). In 2005 he participated in the New Hampshire Bar Association presentation of "Representing Clients in Consumer Debt and Bankruptcy Cases", focusing on changes to the bankruptcy code. Mr. Askenaizer is currently a member of the panel of Chapter 7 Trustees and the Rules Committee for the Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire. Mr. Askenaizer received his Bachelor's degree in economics in 1976 and Master's degree in Administration in 1977 from the University of California, Irvine. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola Law School of Los Angeles in 1980. MARK P. CORNELL is a partner with the firm of Cornell & Ovitt Puc, PLLC, in Concord. He has been practicing law since 1992 and currently practices exclusively in the area of bankruptcy law. Mr. Cornell earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, and his Juris Doctorate degree and master's degree in intellectual property law from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center). He is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the Bankruptcy Court's Local Rules Committee and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Mr. Cornell was named the Pro Bono Attorney of the Year for Merrimack County in 2007. LEONARD G. DEMING II is a sole practitioner in Nashua, New Hampshire, limited to debtor bankruptcy work in all chapters. Mr. Deming earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan, and a Bachelors Degree, with honor, in History, from Michigan State University. A former Chapter 7 trustee, he is a member of the New Hampshire Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Nashua Bar Association, and is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire, and the United States First Circuit Court of Appeals. WILLIAM M. GILLEN is a bankruptcy practitioner with his primary office located in Manchester, New Hampshire. Mr. Gillen has represented about 1300 debtors in Chapter 7 and 13 proceedings. Mr. Gillen holds a B.A. degree from Western Connecticut State University, a M.S. degree from Southern Connecticut State University and a J.D. degree from the New England School of Law. He has been licensed to practice law in New Hampshire and Massachusetts since starting his practice in 2002. Mr. Gillen is a member and previous lecturer of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Prior to becoming attorney, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. TIMOTHY P. SMITH began his private practice in 1987, after serving seven years as a clerk in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire. His practice is limited to bankruptcy matters with a concentration in consumer cases. He also serves as a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the District of New Hampshire. Mr. Smith earned his B.A. degree at St. Francis College and his J.D. degree at Suffolk University Law School. CHRISTOPHER J. SOMMA is an attorney with the law firm of Ford & Weaver, P.A. Mr. Somma concentrates his practice in bankruptcy law, commercial law and tax disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. He received his B.A. degree in Religion and Sociology from Bates College and his J.D. degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Board. He is licensed to practice before the State Courts of New Hampshire, the United States District Court for the District of New Hampshire, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Hampshire, the First Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Somma has significant experience representing debtors, creditors, and Chapter 7 Trustees in the Bankruptcy Court. Mr. Somma also has an extensive state court practice that has allowed him to appear in every district and superior court in the State of New Hampshire, as well as the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Doe Inns of Court, New Hampshire Bar Association and New Hampshire Bar Association's Ethics Committee. LAWRENCE P. SUMSKI is an attorney practicing in Manchester, New Hampshire. Mr. Sumski earned his Juris Doctorate degree from the Saint Louis University School of Law in 1984, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in 1981. He has been a member of the Bar in New Hampshire since 1984. In 1988, he was named the Standing Chapter 13 Trustee for the District of New Hampshire. He is a member of the National Association of Chapter Thirteen Bankruptcy Trustees, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys and the American Bankruptcy Institute. PETER S. WRIGHT has handled civil trials and appeals in state, federal and bankruptcy courts on behalf of individual and corporate clients, during his 18 years of practice in the public and private sectors. His public service included four years as a member of the New Hampshire Worker's Compensation Appeals Board, two years as the mediator for the New Hampshire Department of Labor, and 12 years as a Hearing Officer in the federal Medicare program. He has been actively involved in efforts to improve the administration of justice. Professor Wright has lectured at numerous CLE programs devoted to his areas of practice, and has handled a number of impact cases in the area of consumer protection.
