DAVID ALBAN is an attorney in the law firm of Alston & Bird LLP, where he focuses his practice on intellectual property analysis and litigation and has a broad range of experience litigating complex patent and trade secret disputes, particularly in the software and electronics industries. Mr. Alban has litigated cases in multiple venues, including Texas, Delaware, California and Missouri. His cases have involved technologies such as surgical lasers, semiconductor processing, design automation software, file management software, digital jukeboxes, flash memory, digital televisions, LEDs and semiconductor lasers. Mr. Alban earned his J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley School of Law in 2005, where he served as an editor for the California Law Review as well as the Berkeley Technology Law Journal . With a focus on intellectual property and technology law, Mr. Alban earned Boalt's Certificate in Law and Technology and served as a fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law and Technology. He earned his B.A. degree, with high honors, from the University of Montana and was selected as an outstanding computer and science student. ANTHONY AYCOCK is the support services manager at the North Carolina Justice Academy, a criminal justice training facility in Salemburg, NC, where he oversees the library, print shop, graphic arts, course registration, and video production. Prior to that, Mr. Aycock was the public services librarian at the Charlotte School of Law, where he provided reference assistance and taught in the first-year legal research program. He has also been a librarian at Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, North Carolina's largest law firm, and at Duke Energy Corporation. In addition to his library accomplishments, Mr. Aycock taught legal research in the UNC Charlotte paralegal certificate program from 2003 to 2009. He has also published essays and articles in The Missouri Review , The Gettysburg Review , The Georgia Review , Library Journal , National Paralegal Reporter and Community & Junior College Libraries . Mr. Aycock earned his B.A. degree from Mars Hill College, an M.F.A. from Queens University, and an M.L.I.S. from the University of South Carolina. DAVID A. GOMEZ is the litigation support manager for Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP. He has served in various litigation support capacities over the past ten years at Carlton Fields, Helms Mullis & Wicker, and McGuireWoods, from providing consultation services on various litigation support issues to offering full trial support as well as mediations and arbitrations. Mr. Gomez has provided the necessary insight to structure a case strategy from client data collection, early case assessment and review through to the production phase. As a certified concordance administrator, he also has extensive knowledge of Summation, Relativity, IPRO, as well as many other litigation support software tools. He holds the following certifications: Concordance Certified Software Administrator (CCSA); Concordance Certified FYI Administrator (CCFA): Advanced eDiscovery certification course, Kroll Ontrack; and eDiscovery certification course, Kroll Ontrack. Mr. Gomez earned his B.B.A. degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida. BRIAN PATTERSON is a partner with Vox Mobile Strategic Consulting, where he leads engagements to assist Vox clients in developing enterprise mobility programs via process, people and technology. His specialties include process design and implementation, business case development, regulatory compliance management, strategic business planning and negotiating. Prior to joining Vox Mobile Strategic Consulting, he spent more than 10 years leading and managing technology, audit and finance teams for several Big 4 consulting firms and Fortune 1000 companies. Mr. Patterson received his MIS degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. NATHAN WORKMAN is a writer, entrepreneur, and attorney located in Charlotte, North Carolina, who concentrates primarily in estate planning and business strategy. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt, and has presented on quality improvement and process excellence in service applications. Prior to becoming an attorney, Mr. Workman was a technology and security risk services consultant for Ernst & Young, implementing effective technology solutions for dozens of Fortune 500 clients.
