ANDREW D. ATHERTON is with the law firm of Patla, Straus, Robinson & Moore, P.A., where his practice focuses on developing and implementing comprehensive personal estate plans; assisting clients in navigating the estate administration and probate process; advising clients on how to deal with the costs of long term care, asset preservation, insurance coverage, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, special needs trust development and implementation; and guardianship litigation. (Asheville location) BETTY A. DOLL is Certified in Long Term Care (CLTC). Ms. Doll is the principal of Doll & Associates Long Term Care Insurance Services in Asheville, North Carolina. She has presented at numerous national and state conferences in the financial services industry and related industries. Ms. Doll teaches the CLTC classes on a national level and has trained hundreds of advisors across the country on the specifics of long term care insurance, Medicare and Medicaid. In addition to her teaching, consulting and sales activities, she also provides seminars to consumer groups, employer groups and other professional groups across the region. Ms. Doll has written articles on long term care issues, which have appeared in national trade journals and in local publications. She earned her M.B.A. degree from Jacksonville University and her B.S. degree from Western Michigan University. Ms. Doll is a member of the Buncombe County Council on Aging, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the National Association of Health Underwriters, the Financial Planning Association, the Land of Sky Estate Planning Council and the Board of Standards for the Corporation for Certification in Long Term Care. HARTLEY is an attorney with Strauss & Associates, P.A., where his main areas of practice are estate planning, estate administration, wills and trusts, and elder law issues, including Medicaid Long Term Care Qualification, IRA Inheritance Trusts, Alaska Trusts, and Veterans Aid and attendance benefits. Mr. Hartley is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association, the NAIFA-WNC (2008-present), National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and a former council member of the Buncombe County Council on Aging (2007-2009). He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and before the U.S. District Court Western District of North Carolina. Mr. Hartley is a Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, the only national designation recognized by the American Bar Association in the field of elder law. He also became one of the first ten attorneys to be Board-Certified in Elder Law by the North Carolina State Bar. MILLER is an attorney in Mooresville, North Carolina, where her main areas of practice are elder law, estate administration, estate planning and real estate. After earning her B.S. degree from the University of Southern California, she earned her J.D. degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. While at Wake Forest, Ms. Miller was a member of the Trial Bar and the Christian Legal Society. She also participated in the Clinic for the Elderly and the Litigation Clinic. Ms. Miller completed several internships while in law school, including a summer as the Mecklenburg County Superior Court Law Clerk and a summer as an intern at the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office.
