PATRICIA L. CRISPELL is a legal nurse consultant with Crispell & Associates. She has extensive experience in personal injury claims evaluation, commercial claim evaluation, including workers compensation and toxic torts, and litigation support. Ms. Crispell has clinical nursing experience in trauma ICU, burns, orthopedics, neurology and pediatric home health care. She is experienced in preparing chronology of medical records, identifying causation and damages issues, analyzing, evaluating and summarizing medical records, conducting literature research and summarizing medical literature, assist in determining the merits of defensibility of a case, providing education relevant to the medical issues of a case, assisting with preparation for deposition, mediation and trial, and acting as a liaison among attorneys, healthcare providers, clients and experts. Ms. Crispell is a registered nurse and is licensed in Colorado, Texas and North Carolina. She is a Board Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN), a member of the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants, president of the Eastern North Carolina Chapter (AALNC), member of the Durham County Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee and a Certified First Responder for the United Methodist Disaster Relief (UMCOR). Ms. Crispell earned her B.S. degree from Syracuse University. JENNIFER J. HUTTER is the founder and CEO of MedSearch Legal Nurse Consultants. She was the former manager of the SADMERC HCPCS Department for three years, and the region C DMERC HCPCS coordinator/medical review nurse for two years. Ms. Hutter has testified in administrative law judge hearings for the Medicare system and presented at ALJ/Hearings conferences. She has published a number of articles for Medicare publications. With more than 14 years of professional nursing experience, Ms. Hutter served in the operating room, home health, pediatrics, Medicare Integrity programs, occupational health, and medical-surgical nursing. She is a former Captain in the USA F. Ms. Hutter is a member of the American Association Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) and the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation (WBL). THOMAS G. LEWANDOWSKI is a legal nurse consultant with Batten Lee. He has been on the management of medical malpractice litigation cases from the medical aspect for the defense. Mr. Lewandowski has successfully assisted attorney with defense in cases ranging from Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, and hospital nursing to birth injuries. He has provided detailed medical chronologies, case analysis, deposition analysis, and medical research in order to support defense position. Mr. Lewandowski has provided possible strategies to aid defense of client. He has assisted attorney and paralegals with deposition preparation with deponent investigation, development of questions for deponents, and investigation of relevant medical research. Mr. Lewandowski has developed power point presentations for use with depositions, mediation, and trial. He earned his Associates degree from Owens Technical College, his B.A. degree from the University of Toledo and graduated from Kaplan University DR. ALBERT OSBAHR III is the medical director at Catawba Valley Medical Center Occupational Health Services. Dr. Osbahr also is the corporate medical director of Evergreen Packaging/Blue Ridge Paper Corporation, medical consultant/lab director from Haywood County Health Department, physician reviewer for Carolina Center for Medical Excellence and physician reviewer for NC Industrial Commission. He is chairman of the National One Health Commission. Dr. Osbahr is licensed in North Carolina. POPE JR. is a principal with the Raleigh law firm of Brooks, Stevens & Pope, where he practices exclusively in workers' compensation defense. Mr. Pope has lectured previously for the North Carolina Bar Foundation and National Business Institute on workers' compensation and related issues. He is a Board Certified Specialist in Workers' Compensation by the North Carolina State Bar. Mr. Pope earned his B.A. degree from North Carolina State University and his J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law. He served as a law clerk to the North Carolina Industrial Commission. Mr. Pope is a member of the Wake County and North Carolina bar associations, as well as the North Carolina State Bar. DR. PETER D. SCHULZ is a forensic and clinical psychologist who has been practicing in the mental health field for more than 20 years. For the past ten years, he has specialized in forensic psychology with Triangle Forensic Psychologists, P.C., and the U.S. Dept. of Justice. As an expert witness in federal courts across the country, Dr. Schulz routinely conducts approximately 500 evaluations per year on complex mental health issues for insurance companies, law enforcement agencies, major corporations, law firms, courts, and the military. In addition to performing evaluations regarding fitness for duty, pre-employment, diagnostic clarification, competency/insanity, and risk assessment, he also regularly conducts Independent Psychological Evaluations (IPE) for workers compensation, disability, and personal injury claims. Based out of the corporate office of Triangle Forensic Psychologists, P.C., in Cary, North Carolina Dr. Schulz also conducts evaluations from satellite offices throughout North Carolina in Charlotte, Greensboro, Greenville, and Wilmington.
