ROBERT M. BISANAR is of counsel with the Charlotte law firm of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C., where he practices in the areas of labor and employment. Mr. Bisanar joined Duke Energy in 1980 as a senior attorney and retired as deputy general counsel with responsibility for the labor and employment practice group. Prior to joining Duke, he was the assistant city attorney for the city of Gastonia for four years. In his career, Mr. Bisanar has worked with a wide variety of labor and employment issues, including union negotiations and organizing campaigns, compensation equity studies, executive compensation, whistleblower claims, labor and employment issues associated with mergers and acquisitions, reductions in force, and OSHA. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina, and before the U.S. District Court (Western District), the U.S. District Court (Middle District), the U.S. Court of Appeals (Fourth Circuit), and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Bisanar is a member of the American (Labor Law Section), the North Carolina (Labor Law Section) and the Mecklenburg County bar associations. He earned his B.A. degree from Davidson College and his J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina. STEPHEN D. DELLINGER is a shareholder in the Charlotte office of Littler Mendelson, PC, where his areas of practice include a wide variety of matters regarding equal employment opportunity, civil rights litigation and the National Labor Relations Act. Mr. Dellinger earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, at Appalachian State University and his J.D. degree at Wake Forest School of Law. He was a member of Phi Alpha Delta. Mr. Dellinger is a member of Mecklenburg County and American (Labor Section) bar associations and the North Carolina State Bar (Labor Section). PAULA H. HARVEY is the president of her human resources consulting company, K&P Consulting. Her company provides consulting in human resources and safety, including recruitment, legal compliance, and training. Ms. Harvey has worked for more than 23 years as a human resources generalist. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in International Marketing and Operations Management degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her master's degree in human resources management from UNC Charlotte. She is a nationally certified HR and Safety Professional and instructs at many institutions of higher learning. Ms. Harvey has spoken on many subjects in the HR arena. She is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) serving as the NCSHRM director-elect and president of the Union County HR Association. She has also served on SHRM's Health, Safety and Security Panel, CASHRM past-president, and as the NCSHRM State Conference Chair. She has been a long-term volunteer for the American Red Cross as a disaster and health education instructor. She was awarded the NCSHRM HR Professional of the Year for 2004 and the 2009 York County SHRM HR Consultant of the Year award. WOOD W. LAY is a partner in the law firm of Hunton & Willims LLP, where his practice focuses on representing and advising large employers in matters involving the full range of labor and employment law issues, with an emphasis on employment, non-competition, trade secret litigation and commercial litigation. Mr. Lay has significant experience litigating matters in both federal and state court. He has lectured for different entities on employment issues, as well as litigation. Mr. Lay formerly served as law clerk to the Honorable Walter E. Hoffman, U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia. He earned his B.A. degree from the University of Virginia and J.D. degree, cum laude, from Washington and Lee University School of Law where he was order of the coif. Mr. Lay is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, Virginia State Bar and North Carolina and American bar associations. KEITH WHEELER brings 20 years of human resource management experience with a strong concentration as a HR Generalist. Prior to joining Benefit Controls Companies, Mr. Wheeler was head of human resources for a large food service franchisee with over 1,000 employees in multiple states. Mr. Wheeler also has served as vice president of human resource operations for a national healthcare alliance organization with multi-state locations and over 1,500 employees. Mr. Wheeler's additional human resources experience includes the entertainment industry as senior director of Human Resources & Labor Relations in New York City and in the retail industry as director of human resources for a national retailer with 475 locations, two distribution centers, and over 4,000 employees. Mr. Wheeler is an honors graduate of Winthrop University and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. Mr. Wheeler is currently certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) by the Human Resources Certification Institute, an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management. He is a frequent speaker and presenter on human resource topics for various organizations and associations.
