STEPHEN C. BANTON is a partner in the law firm of Quinn & Banton, L.L.P., where he focuses his practice in elder law/Medicaid planning, business entities and succession planning, planning for non-traditional families, real estate, wills and trusts, asset protection planning, charitable planning, planning for affluent families, FLP and LLC planning, and probate/trust administration. He has provided quality individual estate planning for more than 20 years. Mr. Banton has served on the faculties of both Washington University and St. Louis University. He has served in the Missouri legislature and has been actively involved in changes in estate planning and probate law. Mr. Banton is a member of Wealth Counsel (a National Network of Estate Planners), Elder Counsel (a National Network of Elder Law Estate Planners) and National Association of Elder Law Attorneys. He has lectured and given numerous seminars on estate planning and living trusts. Mr. Banton earned his M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Washington University. He has served as an assistant prosecuting attorney and a Missouri State Representative. Mr. Banton has been active in numerous civic, charitable and service organizations, and has served on the board of directors of many of them. He is currently a member of the Rockwood Board of Education, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association and the American Association for Justice. DEBRA K. SCHUSTER is a sole practitioner in St. Louis. Her practice is focused on the areas of life care planning, durable powers of attorney and living will directives, estate and Medicaid planning, guardianships, special needs trusts, financial exploitation and elder abuse, nursing home issues, health insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance and long-term care) claims and appeals, and long-term disability claims and appeals. Ms. Schuster is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (co-chair, Elder Law Section), president of the Breakthrough Coalition, a board member of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and is a speaker for the Alzheimer's Association and the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill. She earned her B.A. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, her Master of Health Administration from Washington University in St. Louis and her J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law. CORT MacBETH SMITH is an attorney in The Barklage Law Firm, LLC, in St. Charles. He practices in the areas of estate planning, administration and litigation, including fiduciary liability law, elder law and special needs trusts. Mr. Smith has previously lectured for National Business Institute on estate planning and administration matters. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the St. Charles County Bar Association. Mr. Smith earned his B.A. degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, where he was the recipient of the Kansas City Estate Planning Symposium Prize for his research and writing on Missouri's Discovery of Assets statute. MICHAEL B. WATKINS is a sole practitioner at Watkins Law Firm, P.C., in O'Fallon, Missouri. He practices primarily in the areas of family law, wills, trusts, probate, estate planning, real estate and small business law. Mr. Watkins has spoken and lectured for The Missouri Bar Skills Courses Solo and Small Firm Conference, and the civic organizations MATA and The Missouri Bar. He is a certified family law mediator. Mr. Watkins is a member of The Missouri Bar, the St. Charles County Bar and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He earned his B.A. degree from Central Methodist University and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri.
