JOSHUA M. McCAIG is an attorney in the law firm of Polsinelli Shughart, where he practices in the areas of health care litigation, medical malpractice, and intellectual property and technology. Mr. McCaig's practice focuses on working with hospitals, physicians and other health care providers against claims of medical malpractice. His background in biology and physiology are an invaluable asset in developing the defense of complex and high stakes medical malpractice claims. Mr. McCaig has been successfully trying more than a dozen cases in the state courts of Michigan and Missouri, as well as frequently participating in alternative dispute resolution proceedings on behalf of his clients. In addition to medical malpractice litigation, he is experienced in other areas of health care law, including general negligence claims and the litigation of regulatory and compliance matters under HIPAA and EMTALA. Mr. McCaig is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He earned his B.A. degree in Biology, and Philosophy and Technology from Franciscan University of Steubenville, his M.S. degree from Ithica College and his J.D. degree from Ave Maria School of Law, where he served as vice president on the Moot Court Board. Mr. McCaig is admitted to practice in of Michigan, Missouri, and Illinois and is a member of the U.S. District Court, Western District of Missouri.

ARTHUR K. SHAFFER is an attorney with Intellectual Property Center, LLC, where he has built a solid foundation for his legal career with a B.S. degree from Kansas State University. Using electrical and computer engineering principles, he then developed control systems for use in the largest and most demanding projects around the world, including the new Hong Kong airport. After achieving success as an engineer, Mr. Shaffer earned his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, with an emphasis in the areas of litigation and protection of intellectual property rights. Since then, he has utilized his legal skills as an attorney in roles within the government, a Fortune 500 company and various small businesses. Mr. Shaffer has spoken before various legal, civic, social and professional organizations. As a founder of the Intellectual Property Center, he has dedicated his legal career to serving entrepreneurs and businesses by helping them protect and promote their intellectual innovations including their copyrights, trademarks and patents. Mr. Shaffer also volunteers with the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) by mentoring small businesses on a variety of issues.

W. BLAKE WILSON is an Instructional and Research Services Librarian at the Wheat Law Library, University of Kansas School of Law. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Columbia with both his J.D. and a Masters in Information Science and Learning Technologies in May 2004. That same month, he started working for one of the largest firms in the Kansas City area, where he conducted research and instructed attorneys on the finer points of electronic database usage. The role of digital media specialist was passed down to him, and Mr. Wilson later worked for an even larger firm as a litigation support analyst using those skills. In January of 2007, Mr. Wilson became the Instructional and Research Services Librarian at the Wheat Law Library, where he continues on his path, instructing individuals and conducting research. He is a frequent lecturer, and has spoken for National Business Institute, the Missouri Bar, and teaches classes related to Legal Research.
