JOSEPH W. BOOTH is an attorney with the Law Offices of Joseph W. Booth, where he works as counsel and as an arbitrator. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Washburn School of Law, lecturing on collaborative law. Mr. Booth's practice includes family law, arbitration, adoption, surrogate parenting contracts and appellate practice. He lectures nationwide to private practice attorneys, as well as military lawyers on family law issues, including property valuations, child custody, child support and litigation. Mr. Booth earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Ottawa University, his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Washburn School of Law, and his master's degree from St. Paul's School of Theology. He is on drafting committees of the Uniform Laws Commission (formally NCCUSL) as the ABA liaison, drafting the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) and developing a Uniform Statute on Parental Relocation. Mr. Booth is a member of the Publications Board of the American Bar Association Family Law Section; he published "A Guide for Assisting Military Families with the Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA)," Family Law Quarterly (Summer 2009); and he is a contributing writer for the Matthew Bender Project for the Texas Family Law Handbook. He also is a contributing writer to two editions of the Administrative Manual for Nurse-Midwifery Services, and provides legal advice and training to the ACNM and their members. Mr. Booth is a member of the Earl O'Connor Inns of Court, and a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is a member of the Kansas Bar Association and The Missouri Bar. Mr. Booth is the past chair of the Child Support Committee and is chair for the long-range planning for the American Bar Association Family Law Section. He is licensed to practice before the state and federal bars of Kansas and Missouri, as well as the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. BRETT COONROD is an attorney with The Law Office of Smith Coonrod, LLC. He has extensive litigation experience and currently represents individuals and businesses as both plaintiffs and defendants in all aspects of civil litigation, including personal injury. He previously practiced insurance defense work for many years and has experience in toxic tort, real estate, franchise and general business litigation. Mr. Coonrod has successfully tried numerous cases in both state and federal courts. He is active in the Northeast Johnson County community serving as General Counsel of the Northeast Johnson County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Coonrod is a member of The Missouri Bar, Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. He is currently admitted to practice law in Kansas and Missouri. Mr. Coonrod earned his undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. PATRICK N. FANNING is a partner in the law firm of Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P., where he resolves tort claims and business disputes involving accusations of improper conduct. He has litigated a broad range of injury and complex commercial cases alleging theories of negligence, employer intentional tort, toxic tort, nuisance, premises liability, fraud, condemnation, breach of fiduciary duties, lender liability and merchandising practices act violations. Mr. Fanning is admitted to practice before the state courts of Kansas and Missouri; the U.S. District courts for the District of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri; and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Eighth circuits. He is a member of the Ross T. Roberts Inn of Court, Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the American Bar Association (Tort and Insurance Practice Section). Mr. Fanning also is a 2007 graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce's Centurions Leadership Program. He was selected as a "Rising Star" by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers in 2008 and 2009. FREEMAN III is an attorney at the Swanson Midgley Law Firm, where he practices in the areas of construction, land use, church, commercial litigation, business, contract, employment, probate litigation, appellate practice, transportation and corporate law. Mr. Freeman earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He has previously lectured at seminars including "Purchasing Law in Missouri," Kansas City, 2003; and "Purchasing Law," Kansas City, 1999. Mr. Freeman is admitted to practice in Kansas and Missouri, and before the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th and 10th Circuits, and the U.S. District Courts for the Districts of Missouri and Kansas. He is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, The Missouri Bar, the American Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association. RACHEL E. SMITH is an attorney with The Law Office of Smith Coonrod, LLC. Her main area of practice is representing plaintiffs in personal injury litigation. Ms. Smith also works with small business clients handling contracts, disputes and other litigation issues. In 2005, Ms. Smith and Brett Coonrod formed The Law Office of Smith Coonrod, LLC., in order to better assist those in need of her services. She is an executive member of the Board of Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kansas City and is a Big Sister. Ms. Smith also serves as general counsel for the organization. She co-founded and volunteers for the Entrepreneurship Center assisting local business owners and start-ups. Ms. Smith is a member of the Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association, and The Missouri Bar.
