MICHAEL D. FIELDING is an attorney at the Kansas City law firm of Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP, where he defends creditors and enforces their rights in bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. He is one of a small group of attorneys licensed in Kansas and Missouri who is board-certified in business bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. Mr. Fielding has represented secured and unsecured creditors (including the defense of numerous preference and other avoidance actions), creditors' committees, Chapter 7 and 11 trustees, and Chapter 11 debtors. He has also prosecuted and defended numerous commercial litigation matters. Mr. Fielding served as lead attorney in the successful Chapter 11 reorganization of Fortress Women's Center, which provides shelter and counseling services for homeless and abused women and children. He was the principal author of the amicus curiae brief of a large number of Missouri Chapter 7 trustees whose rationale was adopted by the 8th Circuit in In re Benn. As a highly proficient Spanish speaker, he defended the country of the Dominican Republic and its state-owned electric utility against enforcement of an adverse foreign arbitration award. Mr. Fielding was voted as a "Rising Star" in Missouri and Kansas. He has regularly spoken at national, regional and local conferences on topics dealing with bankruptcy, electronically stored information, arbitration, international litigation and ethics. Mr. Fielding has published various articles nationally and internationally on selected bankruptcy issues. His academic works have appeared in a leading bankruptcy law review and bankruptcy journal, and his practitioner articles have been printed in leading bankruptcy trade journals. ANDREW T. JONES is an attorney in the business litigation department of Lathrop & Gage LLP. He focuses his practice in representing commercial and retail lending institutions, manufacturing companies, and material and service providers in commercial collection matters, real property foreclosures, mechanic's and materialman's lien actions, and personal property replevins in both state and federal court. Mr. Jones has gained extensive litigation experience at trial, arguing motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. He earned his B.S. degree from Kansas State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. He is a member of The Missouri Bar and the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association. JENNIFER K. VATH is counsel at the law firm of Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, where she concentrates in loan enforcement and dispute resolution. She has a leadership role in the area of loan enforcement in the firm's Kansas City office. Ms. Vath is a native of the Kansas City area. She earned her B.S. degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance, accounting and economics, summa cum laude, from Truman State University, and her J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law. Ms. Vath is a member of the Kansas Bar Association; The Missouri Bar; the Order of the Coif; the KBA Bench Bar Committee; and the Kansas Judicial Campaign Conduct Committee. She was previously employed as General Counsel for a national telecommunications software company. Ms. Vath also serves on the Board of Directors for Community LINC in Kansas City.
