LISA MONTANO is an attorney at the law firm of Waltrip & Schmidt, LLC, where her practice areas include trusts and estates, wills, probate, guardianship, conservatorship, real estate law, and commercial litigation. Ms. Montano is admitted to the bars of Missouri, Illinois and Ohio and the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Missouri. She earned her B.A. degree from Hamline University and her J.D. degree from St. Louis University School of Law. Ms. Montano is a member of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Illinois State Bar Association and The Missouri Bar. M. HARVEY PINES is the principal of The Pines Law Firm L.L.C., and has more than 40 years of experience practicing law. Mr. Pines is a general practitioner with an emphasis in business and real estate. He earned his A.B. degree from Washington University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from St. Louis University Law School in 1971. He is a member of The Missouri Bar and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. JOSEPH M. POIRIER graduated from San Diego State University with his B.S. degree; he earned his J.D. degree from John Marshall Law School; and later earned his LL.M. degree, with highest honors, from George Washington University. Mr. Poirier served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a regular officer for 28 years, during which time, he handled labor and contract issues until he retired in 1999. He is a recipient of the Legion of Merit Award, among others awards. Of note, Mr. Poirier was lead appellate counsel for the Department of the Navy in the seminal capital murder case as an Amicus Curiae Counsel, United States v. Matthews, 16 M.J. 354 (1983). He also was editor of, Labor Law Monthly Newsletter from 1990 to 1991, and lectured at several labor and contract law conferences in the 1980s and 1990s. After military retirement, Mr. Poirier moved to Belleville, Illinois, where he is partner for the Burke & Poirier Law Firm. Mr. Poirier concentrates his practice in the areas of taxation, corporate law, contracts, business law and estate planning. He is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and is admitted to the following courts: U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Federal and District of Columbia Circuits; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces; U.S. Court of Federal Claims; and U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. FRANK J. SCHMIDT is a partner at Waltrip & Schmidt, LLC, where he practices in the areas of estate and business successions planning, commercial real estate acquisitions and leases, and general corporate and business transactions. The litigation portion of Mr. Schmidt's practice is concentrated mainly in the areas of commercial and banking litigation, contract disputes, landlord/tenant disputes and fiduciary litigation. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University and his J.D. degree from Saint Louis University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in Missouri and Illinois. Mr. Schmidt is frequently asked to speak and co-present business and estate-planning seminars with financial planners and insurance brokers. He is a member of The Missouri Bar, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, The St. Louis County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. CHARLES E. TAYLOR III is a member in the St. Louis law firm of Shepherd, Taylor, Korum & Curtis, L.L.P., where he practices in the areas of estate planning, wills, trusts, business law and formation, real estate, and probate. Mr. Taylor has been practicing law for 30 years. He is a former adjunct professor at Webster University, where he taught a course on law in management. He has also lectured before laypersons on business formation and estate planning matters and is the co-author of a Missouri CLE Deskbook on estate administration. Mr. Taylor is a member of The Missouri Bar. He earned his B.S. degree from Trinity College and his J.D. degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
