CHRISTINE A. ALSOP is principal of The Elder & Disability Advocacy Firm of Christine A. Alsop LLC. Ms. Alsop has extensive elder law experience, as well as significant litigation and advocacy experience. She has provided advice for both institutional and individual fiduciaries. Ms. Alsop regularly represents fiduciaries and family members in contested probate, trust and guardianship matters and fiduciary litigation. She also is experienced in helping families with long term care issues, including Medicaid and Veteran's benefits and estate planning, including asset protection and special needs trusts. Ms. Alsop is a member of both The Missouri Bar and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court. Ms. Alsop is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and served as chair of the Advocacy and Litigation Section of that organization. She has served as a member of the board of directors and as an officer of the local chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Ms. Alsop is also a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, the Academy of Special Needs Planners and the National Association of Medicare Set Aside Professionals. She has served as an expert on issues of lien resolution and Medicare Set Aside arrangements, and frequently assists personal injury attorneys with their client's who have suffered disabilities. She currently serves as the chair of the Elder Law Committee for The Missouri Bar. Ms. Alsop graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law, where she was honored for her outstanding work in trial advocacy. She is a frequent lecturer before both attorneys and other members of the community on elder law and advocacy issues. KATHLEEN BILDERBACK graduated from St. Louis University with degrees in accounting and theatre. Ms. Bilderback received her law degree and LL.M. degree in taxation from the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. She is the recipient of the Gary I. Boren Memorial Award for attaining the highest overall grade point average in the LL.M. program. Ms. Bilderback specializes in estate, business and executive benefits planning and estate and executive compensation planning with life insurance. Formerly, she was a member of the Advanced Markets Group of MetLife, where she provided training and advanced underwriting support for the top producers of MetLife and its subsidiaries. Prior to joining GenAmerica Financial (a MetLife company) in 1996, she was in private practice with a firm in St. Louis County concentrating in estate planning and administration, corporate law and corporate litigation. Ms. Bilderback is a member of The Missouri Bar and the Illinois State Bar Association as well as an active member of the American Bar Association and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She is a nationally recognized speaker and author and adjunct professor in the LLM program at Washington University's School of Law. She also serves as of counsel to the law firm of Doster Guin James Ullom Benson & Mundorf, LLC, in Chesterfield, Missouri. Ms. Bilderback is a member of the Business Insurance & Estate Planning Committee of the Association of Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU). She is past volunteer legal chair for the Junior League of St. Louis and currently sits on the Board of Directors of the St. Louis Charitable Foundation, St. Louis Children's Hospital Legacy Advisors, the Society of Financial Service Professionals (St. Louis Chapter) the Advisory Board of Youth Lifeline America Foundation, and the St. Louis University Bequest and Gift Council. Ms. Bilderback was recently named one of Missouri Lawyers Weekly's Up and Coming Lawyers. SCOT W. BOULTON is senior partner in the law firm of Polsinelli Shughart P.C., and a member of that firm's Wealth Planning Law Group and Non-Profit Law Group. Mr. Boulton's practice includes providing expertise to clients on legal issues arising in the areas of trusts and estates, estate planning, estate and gift taxation, generation-skipping transfer taxation, probate and trust administration, income taxation of trusts and estates, trust and estate controversies, and the establishment and administration of tax-exempt organizations. Prior to joining Polsinelli Shughart, he was a senior trust officer and trust counsel with the U.S. Bank Private Client Group in St. Louis, Missouri; a shareholder in the law firm of Suelthaus & Walsh, P.C., St. Louis, Missouri; and a member of that firm's Estate Planning Department. Mr. Boulton is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Illinois. He received his B.S. and M.A. degrees from the University of Tulsa and his J.D. degree from Saint Louis University in 1984. Mr. Boulton is a fellow in The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, chair of the College's State Laws Committee and a member of its Charitable Planning Committee. He is also a former chair of the Steering Committee of the Probate and Trust Committee of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. Mr. Boulton has been active with the Missouri Bar Probate and Trust Committee for many years, is a past chair of that committee and past chair of the committee's Subcommittee on Trust Law Revision. He received a 2009 Missouri Bar President's Award for his bar activities. Mr. Boulton has participated in the drafting and enactment of Missouri's statutes on Disclaimers (1997), the Prudent Investor Act (1999), the Uniform Principal and Income Act (2001), the Missouri Uniform Trust Code (2005), and the Missouri Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (2009). He has lectured and written extensively on estate planning, tax-related issues, trust law, and exempt entities for many organizations, including the University of Miami Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning, the Missouri Bar, the Nebraska Bar, the Minnesota Bar, and ALI-ABA. His writings include How Uniform will the Uniform Trust Code Be: Vagaries of Missouri Trust Law Versus Desires for Conformity? 67 Mo. L. Rev. 362 (2002). MICHAEL P. DOWNEY is a St. Louis litigator and partner in the national lawyer ethics and risk management practice at Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP, where he advises law and accounting firms on legal, ethics, and risk management matters and represents lawyers and accountants in civil litigation, criminal investigations, and disciplinary proceedings. Mr. Downey also teaches legal ethics and law firm practice at Washington University School of Law. He is a past chair of the American Bar Association's Ethics & Technology Committee and the Illinois State Bar Association's Standing Committee on Professional Conduct, and has been quoted on the front page of the New York Times and appeared as a guest on NPR's Talk of the Nation . In 2010, Mr. Downey was the author of the book Introduction to Law Firm Practice (American Bar Association 2010), and was elected secretary of the American Bar Association Law Practice Management Section. SCOTT T. FILMORE is Of Counsel in the St. Louis office of Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP. He earned his LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University. Mr. Filmore has concentrated his practice in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, Tax Planning/Tax Controversies and trust and estate-related litigation since 2002. He is a member of the Saint Louis University Bequest and Gift Council, the Estate Planning Council of St. Louis, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and The Missouri Bar's Probate and Trust Law Committee. Mr. Filmore earned his B.S. degree in Business Administration at the University of Kansas and his J.D. degree at the University of Kansas School of Law. FRED L. VILBIG is a partner with the law firm of Kohn, Shands, Elbert, Gianoulakis & Giljum, LLP, in St. Louis. Since 1982, Mr. Vilbig has focused his professional career in the areas of estate planning and corporate law. He assists clients in the legal needs of their businesses, including the formation of business entities, the development of capital resources, mergers and acquisitions, and general business law. Mr. Vilbig also assists individuals in their estate planning needs, including the preparation of wills, trusts, and powers of attorney, and in related probate matters. He has also represented numerous nonprofit corporations in their formation, tax, and on-going operational needs. Mr. Vilbig is a member of the St. Louis Estate Planning Council. He has spoken for various business and professional groups on the topic of fund raising. Mr. Vilbig earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Dallas and his J.D. degree from St. Louis University.
