SCOTT M. NELSON is an attorney in the Minneapolis law firm of Mackall, Crounse & Moore, PLC, where his areas of practice are estate planning, probate, taxation, closely held business law, business succession planning, family business law, wealth preservation and elder law. He earned his B.S. degree from St. John's University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of Minnesota Law School. Mr. Nelson is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and American bar associations, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and several professional and nonprofit organizations. DAVID A. REPHAN is a partner at Chestnut Cambronne PA. In his 18 years of practicing law, he has focused primarily in the areas of elder law, disability law (including special needs trust law), government benefits law and veterans law. Mr. Rephan has successfully litigated class actions and individual actions on behalf of government benefits recipients. He also has participated in successful legislative initiatives to increase the rights of persons appealing to the Minnesota Department of Human Services, as well as other rights of government benefits recipients. Mr. Rephan earned his B.A. degree from Yeshiva University and his J.D. degree from Touro Law School. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Minnesota State Bar Association (Probate and Trust Law and Elder Law sections). Mr. Rephan also has taught at numerous legal and community education seminars. CATHERINE R. THATCHER is the founder and president of Thatcher Law Firm PA, where she practices in the areas of estate planning, probate, real estate and business law. She has extensive experience in all types of elder law, including guardianships and conservatorships and Medicaid planning. Ms. Thatcher is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association (Probate and Trust and Real Estate sections). She also is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association and recently published an article entitled "Potential Pitfalls of Putting Your Children on the Title to Your Real Estate" in Hennepin Lawyer Magazine. Ms. Thatcher earned her B.A. degree from Northwestern University and her J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota.
