JONATHAN L. R. DREWES founded the law firm of Drewes Law, PLLC, where he is a partner and chief manager. He represents creditors and debtors through varying disputes over money and real estate. Mr. Drewes focuses his practice toward civil litigation, the art of motion practice and presenting legal arguments in the courtroom. He earned his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Minnesota and his bachelor's degree, with honors, from Vanderbilt University. DUNLEVY is a partner in the Minneapolis law firm of Beisel & Dunlevy, P.A., where he practices in the areas of real estate and creditors' remedies. He is a real property law specialist, certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association. Mr. Dunlevy is experienced in real estate litigation, transactions, foreclosures, evictions and other creditors' remedies. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, and his J.D. degree from the University of North Dakota. Mr. Dunlevy is a frequent presenter at seminars for attorneys, title companies, realtors and lenders, and he has written numerous articles and publications for professional and trade groups. He is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and American bar associations, as well as the State Bar Association of North Dakota and the State Bar of Wisconsin. Mr. Dunlevy co-chairs the Legislative Committee of the Real Property Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association and is the past chair of the Title Insurance Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association's Torts and Insurance Practice Section. BRIAN J. KLEIN is a partner in the financial services group at Maslon Edelman Borman & Brand, LLP. He has extensive experience representing lenders in workouts and foreclosures, as well as creditor representation in bankruptcy; workout and bankruptcy representation of indenture trustees in defaulted public and private debt issuances; and representation of bank holding companies and owners of financial institutions in connection with a wide range of regulatory matters, including change in bank control applications. Mr. Klein's practice further includes significant representation of banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions in all forms of commercial loan and real estate financing transactions, including large loan syndications. These include the areas of general commercial lending, asset-based lending, mezzanine/second lien loans, real estate term and construction financing, indenture trustee representation, project finance, equipment leasing, and chattel paper warehouse financing. He also has served as lead counsel on numerous transactions involving the structuring and documenting of syndicated secured loans, management contracts, and other commercial agreements with Indian tribes located in the U.S. and Canada. FREDERICK W. KNAAK is a partner in the law firm of Knaak & Associates, P.A., where his 30-year practice has included real estate, zoning, municipal law, public and election law, and land use. From 1996 through 2000, his practice also included responsibilities as an appointed contract administrative law judge for the state of Minnesota. Regularly seen by public television viewers as a political analyst on the local Almanac program, Mr. Knaak was, in addition to his practice, in public service in the Minnesota Senate for ten years, where he was minority floor leader, and was recently a vice chairman of the Minnesota Electronic Real Estate Recording Task Force. His broad background includes substantial trial and appellate litigation experience in state and federal courts. Mr. Knaak was lead counsel for Senator Norm Coleman in the 2008 election recount for the Minnesota Senate race. Mr. Knaak and his firm have served as legal counsel in Minnesota for a variety of cities, including Fridley, Lake Elmo, Maplewood and Newport. He has served as local counsel on a number of major constitutional cases before state and federal courts, including as legal counsel to the Minnesota secretary of state in redistricting litigation. GREGORY E. KORSTAD is a shareholder in the law firm of Larkin Hoffman Daly & Lindgren Ltd., where he represents public and private clients on environmental issues, including acquisition and development of environmentally sensitive properties, environmental compliance, auditing and management, Superfund liability defense, air emissions compliance and waste recycling, and disposal issues. Mr. Korstad also has defended corporations and individuals in environmental criminal matters. He has extensive experience in environmental review, assisting clients through the complex maze of state and federal regulation governing Environmental Impact Statements and Environmental Assessments. Mr. Korstad frequently works with endangered species protection and historic preservation. He represents unique, regulated industries in permitting and compliance issues. Mr. Korstad has performed a key role in permitting and regulatory compliance matters for new and emerging technologies, including solid waste composting, waste to energy productions, telecommunications facilities, wind turbine and landfill gas electric generation facilities, and bio-diesel production. Representative projects include solid waste facilities, aggregate production, mining, asphalt plants, feedlots, wind conversion facilities and telecommunications towers. He earned his B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and his J.D. degree from Drake University Law School. Mr. Korstad is a Minnesota Rule 114 qualified neutral and a Minnesota State Bar Association board certified real property specialist.
