ALAN M. ANDERSON is a shareholder in the law firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association, where he practices in the areas of commercial and intellectual property litigation, including arbitration. He specializes in intellectual property litigation, handling patent, trademark and copyright infringement cases as well as trade secret and unfair competition matters. Mr. Anderson represents franchisors in franchise-related litigation and has successfully represented franchisors in litigation and arbitration proceedings. His arbitration experience also includes large commercial disputes in a variety of areas. He has litigated intellectual property actions involving diverse technologies, including medical devices, shape memory alloys, software, electronics and electrical systems, chemical de-icing compositions, agricultural equipment, snowmobile equipment and commercial refrigeration systems. Mr. Anderson earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Coe College, his M.B.A. degree, with distinction, from Cornell University, his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Cornell Law School, Cornell University and his Certificate in International Business and Commercial Law from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific. Mr. Anderson is certified as a civil trial advocate and civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the Minnesota State Bar Association. He has written many articles on his areas of expertise. Mr. Anderson is a member of the American Bar Association (member, Litigation, Intellectual Property Law, Forum on Franchising sections), the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Federal Bar Association, the Federal Circuit Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association. MARSHALL S. LICHTY is an attorney at the law firm of Meagher & Geer, P.L.L.P., where he focuses his practice on the defense of a wide range of complex medical claims against medical professionals and entities, food supply product suppliers, and long-term care facilities and personnel. His knowledge of federal and state regulations and practices, the law, and the science of complex medical litigation is a valuable resource for local, regional, and national clients. Mr. Lichty's experience with medical claims and his relationships with medical experts of all stripes help identify strong positions and potentially difficult facts at an early stage of the litigation to allow for complete strategic and economic analysis of every liability matter. He is an original member of the firm's electronic litigation practice group, which focuses on electronic case management, discovery, and trial presentation, all of which allow for sophisticated and efficient handling of document-intensive and medical-record intensive matters. In addition to advising clients in this area, Mr. Lichty frequently speaks and publishes on electronic-litigation matters. As a member of Meagher & Geer's media team, he is a trained liaison for the television and print media's coverage of complex medical disputes. Mr. Lichty has been recognized as a Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. He is a member of the American, Minnesota State and Hennepin County bar associations, Minnesota Defense Lawyers Association (member, Ad Hoc Committee on Nursing Home Litigation) and the Defense Research Institute. Mr. Lichty also serves on the Advocacy Committee of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association National Board of Directors. He is the chair of the Alumni Relations & Development Committee of the University of Minnesota Law School Alumni Association Board of Directors and the vice-president for 2009-2010 for the Hennepin County Bar Foundation Board of Directors. Mr. Lichty earned his B.A. degree from Gustavus Adolphus College and his J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota Law School. LENAE PEDERSON is an attorney with the law firm of Meagher & Geer, P.L.L.P., where she focuses her practice on complex civil litigation, as well as products liability, and has a background of practice in the area of personal injury. She has handled more than 200 cases, including the defense of professional-negligence claims against architects and engineers, products-liability claims representing manufacturers and distributors, and construction-defect claims representing a variety of contractors. Minnesota Law & Politics has recognized Ms. Pederson as a Rising Star. She volunteers her time with the William Mitchell Law School Mentorship Program and the Minnesota Women Lawyer's Mentor Program. Ms. Pederson also devotes time as a volunteer judge for high school, college and law school mock-trial programs. She clerked for the Honorable Michael Fetsch of Ramsey County District Court. Ms. Pederson earned her B.S. degree from Florida International University and her J.D. degree from William Mitchell College of Law.
