MARTIN I. EISENSTEIN is a partner with the law firm of Brann & Isaacson, where he represents U.S. companies in business law and state tax matters. He earned his B.S. degree, with high honors, from the University of Illinois; his J.D. degree, with distinction, from the University of Illinois, where he was Order of the Coif;, and his LL.M. degree from the University of Stockholm in Stockholm, Sweden. Mr. Eisenstein has previously lectured on state tax matters to attorneys, accountants, the Society of Certified Public Accountants, the New England Mail Order Association, National Business Institute, the Maine State Bar Association, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, bankers and other business professionals, and he also has written various articles on state tax and business topics. He is a member of the Androscoggin County, Maine State (co-chair, Federal and State Tax Section) and American bar associations. Mr. Eisenstein is a Certified Public Accountant and is listed in Best Lawyers in America and Super Lawyers of New England in tax. BILL HOWELL has performed valuations on over 200 closely held and family owned businesses, which is where he concentrates his practice. His background includes performance in senior management roles with two closely held companies as Chief Executive Officer (non-family manager in a family business) and Chief Financial Officer positions, as well as Big Four CPA firm experience with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. Mr. Howell has spoken frequently on exit strategy planning, including related valuation implications. His professional credentials include the Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation in business valuation from the American Society of Appraisers, a current CPA license, Accreditation in Business Valuation (ABV) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, recognition of being Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the designation of Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He earned his BSBA from Bucknell University and his MBA from Boston College.
