JULIA A. CAROLAN is an attorney in the law firm of Thomas & Libowitz, P.A. where her practice primarily involves employment law matters and business and commercial litigation. Ms. Carolan's litigation experience includes representation of individuals and businesses alike and she has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in civil litigation matters. GARNER is an attorney in the law firm of McGuireWoods LLP. Mr. Garner represents management in employment and traditional labor matters, as well as plan sponsors, plan administrators and claims administrators in employee benefits litigation. His labor and employment practice focuses on representing employers in federal and state courts against claims of wrongful discharge and workplace discrimination, as well as tort and breach of contract claims. His employee benefits litigation practice focuses primarily on defending claims under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). He has represented clients in state and federal courts in Maryland, Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Delaware, as well as in arbitration. He also represents clients before various administrative agencies, including the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Maryland Commission on Human Relations, and various local fair employment practices agencies. Mr. Garner also regularly counsels employers regarding employment agreements, policies and handbooks, employee discipline and terminations, and compliance with state and federal employment laws. He is a member of the Maryland State, Baltimore City and American bar associations. EILEEN LEVITT, SPHR, founded The HR Team, Inc., in 1996. Ms. Levitt has more than 20 years of human resource experience relating to human resources strategy, employee communications, employee training, recruitment and retention strategies, executive/employee coaching, employee benefits, financial management, compensation, and policy/procedure development. Ms. Levitt has been published an/or quoted in numerous magazine and periodicals including: The Business Monthly, The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY Employment Management Today, HR Magazine, Inc. Magazine, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore and Washington Business Journals The Daily Record, and Forbes.com.
