HON. EVELYN OMEGA CANNON was appointed to the bench in December 1996 and in 2003 she was appointed as one of the judges on the Business and Technology Program. In October 2006 she became one of the Inaugural Science and Technology Fellows of the Advanced Science and Technology Research and Adjudication Center. Judge Cannon is on the Board of the Maryland Judicial Institute. From June 2005 to June 2009 she was Judge in Charge-Civil Docket for the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Before her appointment to the bench, Judge Cannon was Chief of Litigation for Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr. and in that capacity represented the state in major litigation including suits arising from the savings and loan crisis and the state regulation prohibiting smoking in most public places. Prior to joining the Attorney General's Office, she taught at the University of Maryland School of Law and spent one year as a staff attorney at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia. Judge Cannon earned her LL.M. and J.D. degrees from Duke University Law School. She has taught trial advocacy throughout the country for the National Institute of Trial Academy. In 1997 and 2001, Judge Cannon was named one of the Top 100 Women in Maryland by the Daily Record. She is a fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation. HON. JUDITH C. ENSOR has been an associate judge with the Baltimore County Circuit Court in the 3rd Judicial Circuit, since November 28, 2005. Prior to the bench, Judge Ensor was a partner in the litigation department of the law firm of Whiteford, Taylor, & Preston, LLP. She earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, at St. Lawrence University and her J.D. degree, with honors, at the University of Maryland School of Law. Judge Ensor was admitted to the Maryland State Bar Association in 1988. She is a member of the Maryland State and Baltimore County bar associations, and a fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation. HON. DIANE O. LEASURE has served as the circuit administrative judge for the 5th Judicial Circuit (Anne Arundel, Carroll & Howard counties), since January 4, 2002. Judge Leasure also serves as the county administrative judge for Howard County Circuit Court, 5th Judicial Circuit, since January 4, 2002. She was appointed as an associate judge on November 13, 1995. Judge Leasure is the chair of the Conference of Circuit Judges. She has served as a faculty member at Cook College and Rutgers University, and is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Maryland School of Law. Judge Leasure earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, at Glassboro State College, her M.S. degree at Drexel University and her J.D. degree at Rutgers University School of Law. Prior to attending law school, she was an assistant professor at Rutgers University - Cook College. HON. PAMELA J. WHITE was appointed to the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, took office on February 8, 2007, and elected on November 4, 2008. She had practiced civil law, especially employment litigation, for 30 years with the law firm of Ober, Kaler, Grimes & Shriver, P.C. in Maryland, Washington D.C., and New York. Judge White has served on the Criminal Docket (2007, 2010), the Civil Docket (2009) and in the Family Division (2008). She is the Judge responsible for Court-sponsored ADR programs. Judge White is a past president of the Maryland State Bar Association (2001-2002) and a former president of the Women's Bar Association of Maryland (1989-90). She currently sits on the Board of the Maryland Legal Services Corporation. Judge White has been honored as a Distinguished Alumna of Washington and Lee (J.D. degree) and as a Distinguished Alumna of Mary Washington College (B.A. degree). She currently serves on the Board of Visitors of the University of Mary Washington. MODERATOR - PAUL D. BEKMAN is a partner in the Baltimore law firm of Salsbury, Clements, Bekman, Marder & Adkins, LLC. Mr. Bekman focuses his practice on handling serious personal injury and wrongful death cases, with special emphasis in the areas of medical negligence, products liability, maritime and common carrier cases. Mr. Bekman is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy as a civil trial specialist. He also is certified by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys. Mr. Bekman is a frequent lecturer and writer of publications relating to trial advocacy, personal injury, wrongful death and medical negligence issues. He also has been listed in Best Lawyers of America in personal injury practice, products liability, medical malpractice, admiralty and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Bekman earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Maryland. He is a member and past president of the following: the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. Bekman is an advocate of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, as well as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, where he is currently serving as a Regent of the College.
