HON. JUNE B. DARENSBURG is a District Court Judge in the 24th Judicial District Court, presiding over Division C in Jefferson Parish. Prior to the bench, Judge Darensburg practiced in the areas of criminal law and civil litigation since 1995. She is a member of the Louisiana State and American bar associations, and is also a member of the Jefferson and National bar associations. HON. PAULETTE R. IRONS was elected Judge in Division M of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court on September 18, 2004. Judge Irons was the second female State Senator in Louisiana when elected in November 1994. While in the Senate, Judge Irons served on the Education, Insurance, Judiciary B, and Revenue and Fiscal Affairs committees. She was an at-large member of the Bond Commission and chair of the Senate Select Committee on Women and Children. In 2004, Judge Irons was elected Senate vice chair of the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus. She served at the Governor's pleasure on several task forces, including the Louisiana Women's Commission, the HIV/AIDS Commission, and the Council on Obesity Prevention and Management. As a lawmaker, Judge Irons has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally. She received the 2004 Women Organized and Mobilized for Empowerment Now (W.O.M.E.N., Inc.) Legacy Award, and was a 2004 honoree of the Welfare Rights Organization in New Orleans. She received the 2004 Desjardins Financial Literacy Award from the Credit Union National Association for her advocacy on youth financial education. Home Box Office (HBO) honored Judge Irons during Black History Month 2004, recognizing her as one of ten notable black women leaders in the 'Hearing Her Voice, Telling Her Story' national competition. Judge Irons officially took over the bench in Division M on October 22, 2004, and is assigned a domestic relations docket. HON. HANS J. LILJEBERG is in his second term as a District Court Judge in the 24th Judicial District Court, presiding over civil and criminal matters in Jefferson Parish. Prior to the bench, Judge Liljeberg served as a prosecutor as well as practiced in the areas of commercial litigation, personal injury, and collections since 1993. He earned his business degree at Tulane University and his J.D. degree at Tulane University School of Law. After election to the bench, Judge Liljeberg attended the National Judicial College, where he is a candidate for a Certificate in Judicial Education. He is a recipient of the Outstanding Jurist Award from Victims and Citizens Against Crime. HON. LLOYD J. MEDLEY JR. is the Chief Judge of the Orleans Parish Civil District Court where he presides over Division D - Section 16. Judge Medley was elected to office in 1996. Prior to his election to the bench, Judge Medley was an assistant city attorney for ten years at New Orleans Traffic Court. He also has been an attorney in private practice. He earned both a bachelor's degree in English and social studies and a master's degree in special education at the University of New Orleans, and he earned his J.D. degree at the Southern University School of Law. Judge Medley is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the American Judges Association. MODERATOR - CHARLES O. TAYLOR is an attorney in the law firm of Chehardy, Sherman, Ellis, Murray, Recile, Griffith, Stakelum & Hayes, L.L.P., where he limits his practice to the areas of medical malpractice, ERISA, sex discrimination and products liability. He is a frequent lecturer to diverse audiences, including the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, the New Orleans Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Louisiana Bar Association, the Hastings Group, GE Medical Protective Physicians and Touro Infirmary medical and dental staffs. Mr. Taylor's professional publications include articles in the areas of emergency medicine, tort damages, medical and legal malpractice, as well as HIPAA. He is admitted in Louisiana, all Louisiana federal courts, as well as the U.S. Court of Claims and the Supreme Court of the United States. Mr. Taylor is an adjunct professor of law at the School of Law, Loyola University, and also teaches paralegals at Tulane University. He earned his B.A. degree from Virginia Wesleyan College and his J.D. degree from the School of Law at Western New England College. Mr. Taylor is a founding member and past chairman of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association (Medical Malpractice Section) and is immediate past co-chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association (Medical/Legal Interprofessional Committee) and the Louisiana State Medical Society. Mr. Taylor also is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Additionally, he is a fellow in the Louisiana Bar Foundation.
