September 23 - Baton Rouge RUSSELL W. BEALL is a partner in the Baton Rouge law firm of Beall & Thies, LLC. His main emphasis of practice is on civil litigation including torts, products liability, premises liability and family law. Mr. Beall is a guest speaker at Louisiana State University Law School, where he participates in the appellate advocacy program and the professionalism orientation. He earned his B.A. degree from Louisiana State University and his J.D. degree from Louisiana State University Law School. Mr. Beall is a member of the Board of Governors of the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Louisiana State and Baton Rouge bar associations. DONALD R. DOBBINS is the founder of Donald R. Dobbins & Associates LLC, a law firm in Baton Rouge, where his practice is concentrated in the areas of criminal law, family law and civil practice. Mr. Dobbins has lectured for various CLE programs at Southern University Law Center. He earned his B.S. and J.D. degrees from Southern University. September 24 - Lafayette PATRICK J. BRINEY is senior partner at the law firm of Briney & Foret. His primary areas of practice include professional malpractice, products liability, automobile, property damage, insurance, fire, and general liability litigation. Mr. Briney earned his B.A. degree from Louisiana Tech University and his J.D. degree from Louisiana State University. He is a frequent speaker for members of the bar and insurance industry on topics related to his areas of practice. Mr. Briney is also one of the incorporators of the Lafayette Public Education Fund and has been a member of several advisory committees for the Lafayette Parish School Board. He is a member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute and the Lafayette Parish (past member and vice president) and Louisiana bar associations. KATHERINE M. LOOS has been a partner in the firm of Briney & Foret since 1983 where she has an active litigation practice handling a broad spectrum of cases including toxic tort, product liability, automobile liability, insurance, cases involving satellite signal theft and workers' compensation. She has extensive first-chair bench trial, jury trial and appellate experience. Ms. Loos has obtained favorable decisions in dozens of jury trials in many of the state courts of Louisiana and in U.S. District Court. Ms. Loos is also a mediator with the mediation company Perry Dampf Dispute Solutions and is a member of the Association of Professional Arbitrators and Mediators. Ms. Loos has mediated approximately 100 cases. She has been involved in the successful resolution of a variety of disputes including, but not limited to cases involving serious personal injuries, wrongful death, complex litigation, business litigation and property damage. PHILIP E.
