MISTY CLARK VANTREASE is an attorney with Kentucky Elderlaw, PLLC and focuses her practice entirely on elder law. She spent ten years as an assistant public defender, first in the general trial division and then in the capital division. Ms. Vantrease assists older citizens and their family members on a wide range of issues, including nursing homes, Medicaid, asset preservation, legal documents, guardianship, probate and related matters. She is a member of the Elderlaw Committee of the Kentucky Bar Association, the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Probate Section of the Kentucky Bar Association. Ms. Vantrease earned her B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Murray State University and her J.D. degree from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. BERNARD M. FALLER, licensed in Kentucky and Indiana, is an elder law attorney in Louisville, Kentucky, serving the needs of older citizens directly or through consultation with family members. His practice encompasses Medicaid planning and asset preservation within the ever shifting rules, Medicaid qualification interviews, wills, durable powers of attorney and other document preparation focused on the special needs of older citizens (as opposed to a tax focus), nursing home issues, and extensive family hand-holding. Mr. Faller is the managing partner of Kentucky Elderlaw, PLLC, the largest elder law firm in Kentucky. Prior to starting his own firm, he worked as an electrical engineer for Bell Laboratories; developed an insurance career qualifying as a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table; and founded the New York financial planning firm, Empire State Planners in 1984 and The Diabetic Food Emporium in 1992. He is the author of Moving the Nest, A Mid-Life Guide to Relocating, published in 2001 along with his wife, Rhoda. Mr. Faller is the past chair of the Elder Law Committee of the Kentucky Bar Association; co-authored Vol. 23 of the Kentucky Practice Series, Elder Law in Kentucky, published by Thompson Reuters and released in March 2010; and is an adjunct professor of law at the Brandeis School of Law, University of Louisville. He holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Master of Science degree in electrical engineering from New York University and he received his J.D degree from the University of Louisville School of Law. LEE D. RICHARDSON is a sole practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in estate planning and probate law. He is operating as Louisville Elder Law Advisor in Louisville, Kentucky, where he has concentrated his practice in the area of elder law since 1991, advising clients regarding Medicaid, VA benefits, guardianships, special needs, and estate planning and probate. He lectures at CLE events on estate planning, probate and elder law. His speaking engagements have included the Kentucky Bar Association's convention and its Kentucky Law Update. Mr. Richardson earned his B.A. degree from Tulane University and his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law in Bloomington, Indiana. He has received his VA accreditation and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Louisville (member, Estate Planning Section); Kentucky (member, Kentucky Elder Law Committee); and American (member, Real Property, Probate and Trust Section) bar associations.
