DAVID H. ABNEY II built his Frankfort, Kentucky law practice on the philosophy that tort victims' settlement proceeds should not be eaten up by healthcare subrogation and reimbursement claims. By resolving thousands of subrogation claims over the past decade, Mr. Abney has cultivated extensive experience with ERISA, Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement claims. Before establishing his own practice, he served in the general counsel's office of the largest post-payment healthcare recovery vendor in the U.S. Mr. Abney has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on the topics of ERISA, Medicare, Medicaid and other types of health care subrogation and reimbursement issues and contributed to the 2005, 2006, 2007 versions of The National Subrogation Law Manual. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, and the Kentucky Justice Association, where he serves on the board of governors. Mr. Abney also chaired the Kentucky Justice Association's subrogation seminars in 2008, 2009 and 2010. PERRY ADANICK is of counsel with Bush Law Office where he practices in the areas of insurance defense, arson, fraud and products liability. He has lectured on the topics of insurance coverage and bad faith. Mr. Adanick is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the National Society of Professional Insurance Investigators and the International Association of Special Investigative Units. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky. MICHAEL G. BARNES has been the owner and managing director of Accident Reconstruction Consultants, Inc. since 1991. He served 33 years with the Louisville Police Department, and after 10 years of working patrol, Mr. Barnes was transferred to the Traffic Bureau where he was assigned to the Motorcycle Enforcement Unit. He became an active member of the Louisville Police Department's Motorcycle Drill Team until it was decommissioned. In 1988, Mr. Barnes was assigned to a newly developed Traffic Accident Investigation Unit as a team leader and held that position until his retirement in 2006. During his 20 years in the Traffic Bureau, Mr. Barnes stayed focused on accident reconstruction and traffic safety. He was certified by the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council as an instructor in the areas of Patrol Procedures and Accident Investigation and Reconstruction. Mr. Barnes worked in the Traffic Safety Department where he participated in Kentucky Highway Safety Programs. He also was certified as a Commercial Vehicle Inspector through the MCSAP Program. In 2001 and 2002, Mr. Barnes received a Departmental Citation for Medal of Merit and Commendable Valor from the Louisville Division of Police. In 1990, he started Accident Reconstruction Consultants, Inc., where he worked only civil cases. In 1993, Mr. Barnes became accredited as an Accident Reconstruction Specialist through the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction. He has focused on developing his company into a full service accident reconstruction company by joining "Crashteams," the largest and most experienced team of accident reconstructionists in the world. Mr. Barnes also is a crash data retrieval system technician and analyst through Bosch, which enables him to download data from the airbag control module, or the black box. He is a professional trainer for an accident reconstruction company, ARAS 360. Mr. Barnes has also had his 3D animations accepted in both criminal and civil courts. TRAVIS L. HOLTREY is a partner in the law firm of Caslin Cecil & Holtrey in Owensboro, Kentucky, where he maintains a trial practice representing plaintiffs exclusively. He has been practicing in Kentucky since 1996, and has been a frequent lecturer on various litigation topics for the Kentucky Bar Association, Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys and other professional groups. Mr. Holtrey is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, Daviess County Bar Association (president, 2008), Kentucky Justice Association (member, Board of Governors 2006 - 2008), Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys, and the American Association for Justice. He earned his B.A. degrees in both Political Science and Speech Communication from Western Kentucky University and his J.D. degree from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. A.J. SINGLETON is an attorney with Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC and practices out of the Lexington, Kentucky office. He is a member of the firm's Business and Litigation Practice Group and serves as Deputy General Counsel for the firm. Mr. Singleton's main areas of practice include legal ethics, judicial, legislative, and executive branch ethics, mineral litigation (including trespass actions), shareholder derivative actions, defense of corporate officer and director breach of fiduciary duty claims. He has extensive experience representing coal industry clients in multimillion dollar mineral trespass actions, financial institutions in trademark infringement actions and corporations in complex shareholder derivative actions. Mr. Singleton also works on ethics compliance issues for the firm. He has spoken and written on ethics and professional responsibility topics such as conflicts of interest, confidentiality and communicating with represented persons. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and Georgia, and is a member of the American Bar Association's Center for Professional Responsibility. Mr. Singleton studied at Kansai Gaidai University in Hirakata, Japan, and earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from Furman University. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Washington School of Law.
