ARMAND I. JUDAH is a member of the law firm of Judah Law Offices, where he practices in the areas of domestic relations law, including dissolution of marriages, post-dissolution proceedings, child custody, paternity, prenuptial agreements and private adoptions. He also practices in personal injury and criminal law. Mr. Judah earned his B.A. degree, with honors, from the University of Louisville and his J.D. degree from the University of Louisville School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the Southern District of Indiana; the U.S. Supreme Court; the Kentucky Supreme Court; and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th and 7th Circuits. JOHN SCHMIDT is an attorney with Schmidt Curtis PLLC in Louisville, where his main areas of practice include family law, adoptions, bankruptcy, collections, criminal defense, personal injury, probate, and wills. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky and is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association. Mr. Schmidt earned his B.A., M.B.A., and J.D. degrees from the University of Kentucky. LEIGH SHAPIRO-WALTON is the owner and director of Heart to Home Adoption Agency, LLC in Lexington, Kentucky. She has experience doing home studies for domestic and international adoptions. Ms. Shapiro-Walton also has experience working with lawyers across the state on independent adoptions. Along with her adoption work, she is an adjunct instructor teaching child development and early childhood education. Prior to that, Ms. Shapiro-Walton worked in marriage and family counseling and was in the United States Army. She began working in adoption after becoming an adoptive mom. Ms. Shapiro-Walton earned her Master of Science in counseling from Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia. MICHAEL R. VOORHEES is an attorney with the law firm Voorhees & Levy LLC. He has been a practicing attorney for more than 24 years and handled his first adoption case in 1992. To date, he has handled over 1,500 adoptions. Mr. Voorhees law office is in Blue Ash, Ohio and his current law practice is primarily devoted to adoption law and involves all aspects of adoption, including Ohio adoptions; Kentucky adoptions; agency adoptions; private adoptions; contested adoptions; step-parent and other relative adoptions; special needs adoptions; and adoptions involving other states and other countries. He has also represented nine different Ohio adoption agencies. Mr. Voorhees has published opinions on adoption cases in both the Ohio and Kentucky Supreme Courts. He has also filed several amicus briefs on adoption cases in various courts. Mr. Voorhees is a fellow in the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys and a current board member for the Academy. He has served as the co-chair of the ICPC Committee for the Academy since 2004 and he received the Academy's President's Award in 2007, and again in 2008, for his work on the interstate adoption laws. Also in 2007, Mr. Voorhees received the ?Angels in Adoption? award from the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute in Washington D.C. He is a graduated from Northern Kentucky University, University of Cincinnati, and Chase Law School.
