LISA A. EPPS is a partner practicing with Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP's financial services group, concentrating in creditors' rights, bankruptcy, and business reorganizations. In 1996-97, she was the legal extern for the Honorable James A. Pusateri, Chief Bankruptcy Judge for the District of Kansas. Ms. Epps is a member of The Missouri Bar, and the Kansas and the Kansas City Metropolitan bar associations, as well as a member of the Kansas City Bankruptcy Bar Association, where she serves as secretary/treasurer. She is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Missouri and Kansas. Ms. Epps earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from The American University and her J.D. degree from the University of Kansas. From 1996-1997, she was the editor in chief of the Kansas Journal of Law & Public Policy and was a National Moot Court team member. MICHAEL D. FIELDING, with Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP in Kansas City, Missouri, defends creditors and enforces their rights in bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. He is one of a small group of attorneys licensed in Kansas and Missouri who is Board Certified in Business Bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. Mr. Fielding has represented secured and unsecured creditors (including the defense of numerous preference and other avoidance actions), creditors' committees, Chapter 7 and 11 Trustees, and Chapter 11 debtors. He also has prosecuted and defended numerous commercial litigation matters. Mr. Fielding served as lead attorney in the successful Chapter 11 reorganization of Fortress Women's Center. He was the principal author of the amicus curiae brief of a large number of Missouri Chapter 7 Trustees whose rationale was adopted by the 8th Circuit in In re Benn , 491 F.3d 811 (8th Cir. 2007). As a highly proficient Spanish speaker, Mr. Fielding defended the country of the Dominican Republic and its state-owned electric utility against enforcement of an adverse foreign arbitration award. He was voted as a 2008 & 2009 Missouri & Kansas Rising Star in Super Lawyers magazine. Mr. Fielding has regularly spoken at national, regional and local conferences on topics dealing with bankruptcy, electronically stored information, arbitration, international litigation, and ethics. He has published articles nationally and internationally on selected bankruptcy issues. Mr. Fielding's academic works have appeared in a leading bankruptcy law review and bankruptcy journal. His practitioner oriented articles have been printed in leading bankruptcy trade journals. Mr. Fielding earned his B.A. degree, with honors, and his J.D. at Brigham Young University. ERIC L. JOHNSON is a partner practicing in the financial services group of Spencer Fane Britt & Browne LLP, in Kansas City, Missouri. His practice involves representation of debtors, creditors, committees, trustees and other interested parties in bankruptcy, workout and collection matters. Mr. Johnson earned his B.A. degree, with highest honors, from the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls and his J.D degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law. He is licensed to practice law in Missouri and Kansas, as well as the federal district courts in Kansas, and the Eastern and Western districts of Missouri. Mr. Johnson is a member of the American, Kansas and Kansas City Bankruptcy bar associations, and The Missouri Bar, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.
