April 23 - Topeka B. J. HICKERT is an owner of the Topeka law firm of Newbery, Ungerer & Hickert LLP, where his main areas of practice are business, tax, estate planning, probate and trust law. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Benedictine College; his J.D. degree from the University of Kansas School of Law; and his LL.M. degree, in Taxation, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law. Mr. Hickert is a fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel; teaches estate and gift tax at Washburn University Law School; and is included in the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers lists. BRIAN M. JACQUES is an attorney with Sloan, Eisenbarth, Glassman, McEntire & Jarboe L.L.C., where he specialized in transactional, tax, and estate matters. He earned his B.A. degree from Saint Michael's College and his J.D. degree, Dean's Honors, from Washburn University School of Law. Mr. Jacques brings a wealth of tax knowledge to the firm's individual and corporate clients, and became one of two attorneys at Sloan, Eisenbarth, Glassman, McEntire & Jarboe L.L.C. to have earned an L.L.M. degree when he completed his additional degree at the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 2000. He is a member of the Topeka Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, American Bar Association and the Topeka West Rotary Club. Mr. Jacques is an active member of the legal and Topeka community. He also serves as a firm representative to the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce. K. KIRK NYSTROM is the principal of Nystrom Law Office, in Topeka, Kansas, with extensive experience in the areas of senior law, estate planning, real estate and probate law. He earned his LL.M. degree from the University of Missouri at Kansas City; his B.B.A. degree, School of Business Scholar, from Washburn University; and his J.D. degree, Barrister's Society, from Washburn University School of Law. Mr. Nystrom marketed real estate and held a Kansas real estate broker's license before he began practicing law. He taught real estate fundamentals at Washburn University, and he often lectures for various professional groups. Mr. Nystrom is a member of the Probate Committee of the Topeka Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. April 24 - Wichita PAMELA J. THOMPSON is an attorney at the Law Office of Pamela J. Thompson, PA, in Wichita. Ms. Thompson's law practice has specialized in probate matters, including wills, trusts, estate planning, probate, guardianship and conservatorships, powers of attorney, and adoptions for 27 years. She also has extensive practice as an attorney in the juvenile law and adoption area. Ms. Thompson has taught training for social workers for working with attorneys and guardian ad litems. She earned her B.S. degree from Emporia State University and her J.D. degree from Washburn University School of Law. Ms. Thompson is a member of the American, Kansas and Wichita (member, Probate Committee; past president, Juvenile Law Committee) bar associations. LARRY D. TOOMEY is a member of the Wichita law firm of Toomey Pilgreen, L.L.C., where his areas of practice include real estate, wills and trusts, probate, and probate litigation. Mr. Toomey earned his B.A. degree from Wichita State University and his J.D. degree from South Texas College of Law. He previously has lectured on how to draft wills and trusts and has also served as first assistant city attorney for Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Toomey is a member of the Wichita, Kansas and American bar associations and the State Bar of Texas. J. JOSEPH WEBER has been helping individuals, families and businesses throughout Wichita and South Central Kansas for more than 25 years. He attended law school at Washburn University School of Law and graduated in 1984. Mr. Weber is the Topeka, Kansas associate comments editor for the Washburn Law Journal. In 1981, he graduated from Kansas State University, with his Bachelor of science and finance degrees. Mr. Weber as been the judge pro tem for the city of Wichita Municipal Court from 1997 to the present. He is a continuing legal education presenter on evictions for landlords. Mr. Weber is a member of the Wichita Bar Association, Kansas Bar Association, Blessed Sacrament Church and the Better Business Bureau.
