JEFFREY A. ABRAMS is a member and president of the Indianapolis law firm of Dann Pecar Newman & Kleiman, P.C., where his practice includes real estate, corporate, commercial lending and alcoholic beverage law. Mr. Abrams represents developers, landlords, tenants and lenders in all aspects of real estate transactions. He is the author of several articles that have appeared in the Indianapolis Business Journal and frequently has spoken for the International Conference of Shopping Center Law, ICLEF and National Business Institute. Mr. Abrams is listed in Indiana Super Lawyers, Best Lawyers in America and Chambers USA Leading Lawyers for Business and is counsel for the Indiana Commercial Board of Realtors. Mr. Abrams is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American bar associations and the American College of Real Estate Attorneys (ACREL). He earned his B.S. degree from Miami University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Indiana University. MICHAEL L. CARMIN is the managing attorney at Andrews, Harrell, Mann, Carmin & Parker, PC, where he practices in the areas of business and real estate law, zoning, land use and development. Mr. Carmin has lectured at continuing education programs on the use of expert witnesses and Indiana real estate law. He is active in local governmental affairs on behalf of various interest groups and the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce on land use and zoning policies of Monroe County and the City of Bloomington. Mr. Carmin is a member of the Monroe County and Indiana State bar associations, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the Indiana Land Title Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Indiana University and his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law. TAMMY L. ORTMAN is a partner with the Indianapolis law firm of Mercer Belanger. She practices in the areas of real estate, title insurance defense, civil litigation and business transactions. Her practice focus is in the areas of commercial real estate transactions, title insurance defense, construction litigation, tax and exchange matters and general business. Ms. Ortman earned her B.S. degree from Butler University and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Thomas Cooley Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section, Title Insurance Litigation Committee and Taxation Section), the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana Land Title Association. MARY A. SLADE is the senior attorney and managing attorney for the Indianapolis office of Plunkett Cooney, P.C. Ms. Slade is admitted to practice in Indiana. She graduated from Butler University with a degree in international studies and earned her J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law. Ms. Slade was a co-founder and the executive production editor for the Indiana International & Comparative Law Review. She was licensed as a corporate counsel with the Virginia State Bar. Prior to joining Plunkett Cooney, P.C., Ms. Slade worked for five years as the vice president regional claims counsel for Stewart Title Guaranty Company in Virginia. She also has been assistant regional counsel and an agency underwriter for Ticor, Chicago Title and Security Union; and a deputy prosecutor for the prosecuting attorney of Marion County, Indiana. During her tenure at Stewart, she also was the claims counsel and state counsel for Stewart in Indiana. Ms. Slade has served as the education chairperson for the Indiana Land Title Association and Stewart's Indiana real estate director for accredited real estate broker and salesperson courses. Her programs on title insurance and/or claims have been accredited for title insurance license or attorney license credit in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
