MELISSA A. BREEDEN is the senior staff attorney for the real estate investment trust company Simon Property Group. Ms. Breeden's main area of practice is transactional commercial real estate, focusing on property disposition and finance. She was previously with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources and has experience in real estate and environmental litigation. Ms. Breeden earned her B.A. degree from Ball State University and her J.D. degree from Valparaiso University. She has lectured for the International Council of Shopping Centers. Ms. Breeden is a member of IndiCREW. MICHAEL L. CARMIN is the managing attorney at Andrews, Harrell, Mann, Carmin & Parker, PC, where he practices in the areas of business and real estate law, zoning, land use and development. Mr. Carmin has lectured at continuing education programs on the use of expert witnesses and Indiana real estate law. He is active in local governmental affairs on behalf of various interest groups and the Greater Bloomington Chamber of Commerce on land use and zoning policies of Monroe County and the City of Bloomington. Mr. Carmin is a member of the Monroe County and Indiana State bar associations, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the Indiana Land Title Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Indiana University and his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law. PAUL J. CARROLL is an associate with the Indianapolis law firm of Mercer Belanger. He concentrates his practice in the areas of civil litigation, construction litigation and land use law. He has presented at National Business Institute seminars, including “Curing Real Estate Defects” and “Using a Mechanic's Lien to Get Your Money.” Mr. Carroll earned his B.S. degree from Purdue University and his J.D. degree, with honors, from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association (Litigation Section). TAMMY L. ORTMAN is a partner with the Indianapolis law firm of Mercer Belanger. She practices in the areas of real estate, title insurance defense, civil litigation and business transactions. Her practice focuses in the areas of commercial real estate transactions, title insurance defense, construction litigation, tax and exchange matters, and general business. Ms. Ortman earned her B.S. degree from Butler University and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Thomas Cooley Law School. She is a member of the American Bar Association (Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice Section, Title Insurance Litigation Committee, and Taxation Section), the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association and the Indiana Land Title Association.
