JOHN R. HUMPHREY is a partner in the law firm of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, where his practice areas include bankruptcy, business restructuring and creditor rights. Mr. Humphrey represents secured lenders, trade creditors, landlords and others in out-of-court restructurings, collection and bankruptcies, and assists buyers and sellers of distressed businesses. He also consults with business and individual debtors to help resolve financial problems with negotiation, out-of-court work-outs and bankruptcy. Mr. Humphrey has represented numerous clients in significant bankruptcy litigation matters including multi-million dollar preference and fraudulent transfer cases. He is a member of the board of directors for the Indiana Association for Corporate Renewal, an association of lenders, accountants, attorneys and other professionals concerned with effective turnaround management in Indiana. Mr. Humphrey also is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, American, Indiana State and Indianapolis bar associations, and the Indiana CPA Society. He is a frequent lecturer on bankruptcy and out-of-court restructuring matters at continuing education seminars. Mr. Humphrey is a Certified Public Accountant, and was in private practice in the areas of business consulting and taxation prior to his becoming an attorney. He earned his B.S. degree from Indiana University, his M.B.S. degree from Texas A&M University and his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis. JOHN D. WALLER is a partner at the Indianapolis law firm of Wooden & McLaughlin, LLP, where he protects the interests of commercial lenders, banks and other parties when businesses default on secured loans. He acts as an advocate during the work out of underperforming deals. In cases of non-performing loans, Mr. Waller files lawsuits to enforce promissory notes, guaranties and other written contracts. He helps gain control over loan collateral by applying for court-ordered receiverships, and he assists with the liquidation of such collateral by foreclosing real estate mortgages and enforcing personal property security interests, as well as preserving lien rights in bankruptcy court. Mr. Waller also asserts the rights of creditors and other parties in complex, real estate-related litigation. He graduated from DePauw University and immediately entered the Indiana University School of Law. Mr. Waller received his license to practice in Indiana's state and federal courts. He later completed an intensive week-long professional training program in trial skills presented by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. Mr. Waller often represents companies and individuals in a wide variety of disputes. He has tried a number of bench and jury trials, and has handled several appeals. MARK R. WENZEL is a partner with Krieg DeVault. Mr. Wenzel concentrates his practice in the areas of creditors' rights, bankruptcy, real estate and commercial law, and is board certified in the area of business bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification. He is a member of the firm's creditors' rights and bankruptcy practice group, and also is a member of its litigation, real estate and construction law practice groups. Mr. Wenzel has represented creditors, debtors and investors in creditor/debtor litigation and in bankruptcy cases throughout the United States. He is a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association (Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section) and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals Bar Association. Mr. Wenzel has previously spoken at seminars on foreclosure and repossession. He earned his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Purdue University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law.
