AREND J. ABEL is the chair of the appellate law practice group with Cohen & Malad, LLP, and represents clients at the trial and appellate levels in state and federal courts. Mr. Abel's practice areas are government litigation, appeals, business litigation, class action, intellectual property litigation, securities litigation, health care and health care reimbursement, and gaming. He has taught many lectures and seminars, including "Presenting Effective Appellate Oral Argument," Office of the Attorney General and the Appellate Practice Section of the Indiana State Bar Association; "The Changing Face of Regulatory Takings," Conference of Government Mining Attorneys; "Brief Writing," Indiana Office of the Attorney General and "Analysis of Indiana Department of Environmental Management v. Chemical Waste Management, Inc. ," Indianapolis Bar Association. Mr. Abel is a member of the American, Federal, Indiana State and Indianapolis bar associations. He earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Ball State University and his J.D. degree, summa cum laude, from Indiana University at Bloomington School of Law. JEREMY S. BABER is an attorney with Stewart & Stewart Attorneys. He concentrates his practice in the area of personal injury, handling cases involving automobile wrecks, truck accidents, defective products, dog bites, slip and fall accidents, and other cases involving individuals who are seriously injured. Mr. Baber is admitted to practice before the Indiana Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for both the Northern and Southern districts of Indiana. In addition to being named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers , he is a member of Indiana State and Hamilton County bar associations, as well as the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice. Mr. Baber earned his B.A. degree from Purdue University and his J.D. degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. SCOTT A. BENKIE is a partner in the Indianapolis law firm of Benkie & Crawford, where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation and personal injury, including wrongful death and medical malpractice. He has written several articles for the Indiana Lawyer , the Verdict and Res Gestae on the issue of punitive damages for wrongful death, including "The Paradox of Punitive Damages in Wrongful Death" and "Punitive Damage Paradox Resolved"; and he has lectured on similar topics. Mr. Benkie is a frequent speaker for National Business Institute. He earned his B.A. degree from Hanover College and his J.D. degree from Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. Mr. Benkie is a member of the Indianapolis and Indiana State bar associations, the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association. DANIEL J. BUBA is a personal injury trial lawyer with the law firm of Doehrman Chamberlain in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Buba represents a variety of personal injury clients, including traumatic brain injury victims and clients injured as a result of interstate truck crashes, motor vehicle collisions and construction site accidents. Prior to joining Doehrman Chamberlain, he practiced as an in-house defense lawyer for a large insurance company, representing a variety of commercial clients, including truck drivers, trucking companies and construction companies. Mr. Buba earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from the Chicago-Kent College of Law. Since law school, he has maintained a practice in the Indianapolis area. Mr. Buba is active in the legal community on both the local and national level. Over the years, he has held multiple officer and board member positions with the Indianapolis Bar Association and served as president of the bar association in 2008. Mr. Buba has served on the Board of Directors of AAJ's Interstate Trucking Litigation Group since 2007 and is currently serving in the officer position of secretary for the ITLG. MARK A. METZGER is a partner in the Indianapolis firm of Metzger Rosta LLP, where he practices in the areas of insurance defense, litigation and personal injury. He has been a guest lecturer at numerous seminars with regard to his practice. Mr. Metzger also is an adjunct professor at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. He is a member of the Indianapolis, Indiana State and American (member, Insurance Law and Litigation sections) bar associations; the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana; and the Defense Research Institute.
