RICHARD B. GONON is a sole practitioner in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he devotes his practice to collections, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act defense litigation, collection agency representation, creditors' rights in bankruptcy and commercial law. He has been a frequent lecturer on the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and collections law for continuing education seminars, the Midwest Regional Debt Collectors Conference and the Indiana Collectors Association. Mr. Gonon is the past Indiana State chair for the member?s attorney program of the American Collectors Association. In addition, he is a member of the Indiana Creditors' Bar. Mr. Gonon earned his B.A. degree from the University of Rhode Island and his J.D. degree from the University of La Verne. JOSEPH B. WALTERMAN is a partner with Nerz Walterman, P.C., where his practice focuses on all aspects of creditors' rights in consumer and commercial debt collection litigation, business transactions, real estate and general civil litigation, including the defense of businesses in Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act claims. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the Indianapolis Bar Association. Mr. Walterman started his legal practice at a general practice firm in Bloomington. In 2004, he was chosen as corporate and litigation counsel for two statewide collection agencies based in Indianapolis. In 2006, Mr. Walterman transitioned to the law firm of Nerz & Associates, P.C., and, in 2007, he was named partner under the firm Nerz Walterman, P.C., as vice president for collection litigation. He earned his B.A. degree, with honors, and his J.D. degree from Indiana University in Bloomington. JAMES T. YOUNG is a partner with the Indianapolis law firm of Rubin & Levin, P.C., where he practices in the areas of creditors' rights, bankruptcy, commercial litigation, corporate, business planning, real estate, intellectual property, and landlord and tenant law. He served as law clerk to the Honorable John W. Montgomery, circuit court judge, St. Joseph County, Indiana. Mr. Young has spoken previously for National Business Institute and the Institute for Paralegal Education on landlord/tenant, real estate and trademark issues. He was chair of the Bankruptcy and Creditors' Rights Section of the Allen County Bar Association from 2000 through 2002. Mr. Young has served periodically as a guest lecturer at the Indiana University School of Informatics in Indianapolis, Indiana. His prior presentations, publications and CLE faculty topics have included "Selected Issues Concerning Appraisers and Auctioneers in Bankruptcy Cases, the Bulk Sales Act and Valuation" and "My Client Filed Bankruptcy, Now What Do I Do?" for the Allen County Bar Association; "Business Bankruptcy Changes to the Bankruptcy Code" and "Defending Avoidance Actions" for the Indiana Institute of Credit; "Annual Bankruptcy Institute" for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum; and "Navigating the Paperless Court in Indiana," "Aligning Your Practice With the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005," "Trademark and Intellectual Property Administration for the Corporate IP Paralegal/Administrator," "An Advanced Look at Indiana Real Estate Law," "Evictions and Landlord/Tenant Law in Indiana" and "Fundamentals of Bankruptcy Law" for National Business Institute and its related companies. Mr. Young earned his B.S., M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Indiana University, Bloomington. He is a member of the Indianapolis, Seventh Circuit and American bar associations and the Indiana State Bar Association.
