BRADFORD E. BLOCK is the principal of the Law Offices of Bradford E. Block in Northbrook. He has been an attorney for more than 30 years and practices in the areas of business formation, mergers and acquisitions, not-for-profit organizations, private foundations, equity financing, tax law, and the preparation and negotiation of corporate and technology contracts. Mr. Block has lectured to various professional groups on matters related to limited liability companies, partnerships and S corporations, and is a former adjunct professor of business planning and partnership law at DePaul University. He also is a commercial mediator and a member of the Association of Attorney Mediators. Mr. Block earned his B.S. degree from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law. PATRICIA B. CARLSON is a partner with the law firm Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C., where her main areas of practice are corporate and tax issues affecting a wide range of corporations with a specialization in not-for-profit organizations. She represents corporations, partnerships and limited liability companies on incorporations, acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures, corporate reorganizations, bond financings, leases, employment agreements and contracts. Ms. Carlson also works with exempt entities on risk management policies, confidentiality of records, tax exemptions, private inurement, unrelated business income and sales tax. She frequently speaks on these and related topics before various educations and civic groups. Ms. Carlson earned her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University; her A.B. degree, cum laude, from Princeton University; and her M.A. degree from the University of Minnesota. MICHELLE HUHNKE is a partner with the law firm Sugar & Felsenthal LLP, where she focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, estate and trust administration, and charitable planning. She works with clients and their families to develop estate plans that address varied family circumstances and include efficient estate, gift and generation-skipping tax planning. Ms. Huhnke also represents charities and their donors. She advises clients on the use of charitable trusts, private foundations, and donor advised funds to foster family philanthropy and maximize the income, estate, and gift tax benefits of charitable giving. Ms. Huhnke advises charitable foundations and public charities on governance and transactions. Other areas of her practice include asset protection planning and business succession planning. Ms. Huhnke teaches trusts and estates law at the University of Chicago Law School. She also is a lecturer for the Investment Management Consultants Association for their program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and has lectured for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Ms. Huhnke earned her J.D. degree, with honors, from the National Law Center at George Washington University and her undergraduate degree, cum laude, from Barnard College. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the District of Columbia Bar. RICHARD LIEBERMAN is a partner with the law firm Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. Mr. Lieberman engages in a general tax practice with an emphasis on tax planning and controversy matters for partnerships, joint ventures, corporations, limited liability companies and S corporations. He primarily advises clients on both the federal and state tax aspects of a wide range of business transactions and is experienced in organizing tax-efficient business entities, as well as in mergers, acquisitions, spin-offs, redemptions, distributions and liquidations. Mr. Lieberman also advises non-profit organizations on a variety of tax issues. He works regularly with unincorporated associations, private foundations and public charities, including donor advised funds. Mr. Lieberman earned his J.D. degree, with high honors, from IIT/Chicago Kent College of Law; his B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; his LL.M degree in international legal studies from New York University School of Law; and his LL.M. in taxation from DePaul University College of Law. ELIZABETH M. MILLS is a senior counsel in the Chicago office of Proskauer Rose LLP and a member of the health care department. Her practice is focused both on health care organizations and tax exemption issues for not-for-profit organizations. Ms. Mills addresses regulatory and transactional issues for all types of health care providers. She speaks and writes frequently on tax exemption matters, particularly for health organizations. Ms. Mills earned her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law; her B.A. degree, with highest distinction, from the University of Kansas; her M.A. degree from Stanford University; and her M.S. degree from Harvard School of Public Health. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, American Bar Association and American Health Lawyers Association.
