AMY DELANEY is one of eight certified elder law attorneys in the state of Illinois and is the founder of DeLaney Law Offices, Ltd. Ms. DeLaney limits her practice to elder law. This includes primarily estate planning, governmental benefits, estate administration, and guardianship and estate litigation. She also designs estate plans to meet the diverse family, financial, and healthcare needs of her clients, including planning for children with special needs and tax planning for larger estates. Ms. DeLaney is the current president of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in Illinois. She also serves as a member of the Elder Law committees of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois Bar Association, and volunteers on the board of directors of several charitable foundations, including the Veterans' Legal Aid Society in Chicago and the Alvernia Manor Retirement Home in Lemont, Illinois. Ms. DeLaney has been frequently quoted in media outlets such as the Daily Southtown, Chicago Tribune, and appeared on PBS to comment on the constitutionality of the use cameras in nursing homes to monitor care. Ms. DeLaney earned her Bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, her Master's degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield, and her J.D. degree from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon. MICHAEL H. ERDE is the principal in the Chicago law firm of Michael H. Erde & Associates, P.C., where since 1969 he has focused his practice on estate planning, elder law, probate, guardianships, business and corporate law, and real estate leases. He is certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation (the Supreme Court of Illinois does not recognize certification). Mr. Erde is a member of the Greater North Shore Estate Planning (treasurer), Financial Planners Council and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. He has been an instructor/lecturer for many years on estates and trusts, elder law, and asset protection. Mr. Erde is an adjunct professor at John Marshall Law School, where he teaches classes on elder law. Mr. Erde also has written numerous articles on wills, trusts and elder law issues. He earned his B.S.B.A. degree from Washington University, his J.D. degree from the University of Illinois, and has graduate credits in taxation from The John Marshall Law School. Mr. Erde founded the Asset Protection Committee of the Chicago Bar Association, where he was a former chairman and member. He also is a member of the Probate Committee of the local bar. Mr. Erde also is former chair of the Business and Financial Advice Section of the Illinois State Bar Association and former director of the Irene Josselyn Center for Mental Health. HEATHER E. VOORN is an elder law attorney with the DeLaney Law Offices, Ltd., with offices in Chicago and Orland Park. Ms. Voorn is a guardian ad litem in Will County and also is accredited by the Veteran's Administration. She served as an extern for the Hon. Charles Norgle of the Northern District of Illinois District Court. Ms. Voorn is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Illinois State, Chicago and South Suburban bar associations. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Suburban Bar Association. Ms. Voorn earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Florida State University and her J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from the John Marshall School of Law.
