PAUL BERNSTEIN is an attorney at law, a certified public accountant and an arbitrator of long-standing with the American Arbitration Association. He has been practicing law for more than 50 years. For more than 20 years, his practice has been concentrated on the representation of tenants. Mr. Bernstein has been a staunch consumer advocate and tenant representative in the eviction courts in Chicago, in regard to security deposit violations by residential landlords. He has also been of record in class action litigation on behalf of tenants alleging violations of security deposit provisions of both the Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance and the Illinois law governing such topics. Mr. Bernstein has represented commercial tenants in the eviction courts. He is a long-term member of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Tenants Organization, an Illinois, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. He has also chaired numerous committees. Mr. Bernstein graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana, Illinois and from De Paul Law School in Chicago. MITCHELL S. CHABAN is an attorney with the law firm Levin Ginsburg, where he practices in the areas of commercial litigation and dispute resolution; employment and benefits; landlord and tenant disputes; corporate and partnership disputes and business law. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the Illinois and U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. Mr. Chaban earned his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from John Marshall Law School. He is a member of the Illinois State and Chicago bar associations. HERBERT C. GOLDMAN is the sole practitioner of Herbert C. Goldman, P.C. Mr. Goldman has practiced law in Illinois for more than 30 years. He focuses his practice on real estate transactions and litigation. He has represented commercial and residential owners, investors and managers in more than 5,000 landlord/tenant cases. Mr. Goldman is both a certified public accountant and a licensed real estate broker. He is a member of the American Bar Association. He also sits on the Board of Trustees of the Cove School, a facility for learning disabled children. Mr. Goldman earned his B.S. degree in accounting from the University of Illinois and his J.D. degree from Northwestern University. JULIA JACKSON works in the Chicago law firm of Pierson & Jackson LLC. Ms. Jackson has experience in estate planning with emphasis on creating pet trusts. She also has experience with forming various business entities, drafting business agreements and reviewing contracts. Ms. Jackson earned her B.A. degree from Albion College, her J.D. degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and her M.L.I.S. degree from Dominican University. She is admitted to practice in Illinois. She is a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association. BARRY I. MORTGE is an attorney in the Illinois Law Office of Barry I. Mortge. Mr. Mortge primarily represents both individuals and businesses in commercial litigation matters. He focuses his litigation on real estate related matters, primarily foreclosure actions, but also litigates mechanics' lien actions and other contract-related matters. Mr. Mortge has been involved with partnership and shareholder disputes. He has tried numerous cases in both the state and federal courts and has extensive appellate experience as well. Mr. Mortge earned his undergraduate degree from Furman University and his law degree from the Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar of the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois. STANLEY W. PIERSON is a member of the Chicago law firm of Pierson & Jackson LLC. Prior to forming Pierson & Jackson LLC, Mr. Pierson practiced in the areas of false claims and class action litigation. Currently, he practices representing buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. In addition, he is a title insurance agent for Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund, Inc. and Chicago Title Company. Mr. Pierson also represents condominium associations for whom he has litigated and resolved issues regarding building turnover from developers, collection of delinquent assessments as well as assisted in the election and operation of boards of managers. He also represents clients in small business organization and planning, where he advises on corporate structure, securing and negotiating operational contracts, leases and agreements, including those for employees. He also enjoys every opportunity to assist tenants, both commercial and residential, in successful lease negotiations. Mr. Pierson believes that it is essential for both sides to fully understand their obligations, as well as their rights under any lease or rental agreement.
