JEFFREY W. BREND is a partner in the Chicago law firm of Levin & Brend, P.C., where he concentrates his litigation practice in all aspects of divorce and child custody. Along with being an attorney, Mr. Brend is a Certified Public Accountant and has been qualified as a financial expert to value businesses and complete forensic financial investigations throughout the Chicago-land area. He has written numerous articles about business valuation, forensic accounting and child custody issues. Mr. Brend earned his B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University and his J.D. degree from John Marshall Law School. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association (past chair, Matrimonial Law Committee), the American Society of Appraisers, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. EMILY R. CARRARA is a senior associate of the Wheaton law firm of Sullivan Taylor & Gumina. Since 2001, Ms. Carrara has focused her practice in the areas of family law including; dividing retirement plans, child support, adoption, appellate practice, child custody, guardianship, paternity and parental agreements. Since 2003, she has taught and been a presenter for numerous family law seminars. Ms. Carrara earned her B.A. degree at Boston University and her J.D. degree, with honors, at John Marshall Law School. She is a member of the American, Illinois State, DuPage County, (and it's family law committee), Kane County and Will County bar associations, and the DuPage Association of Women Lawyers. Ms. Carrara has been named "One of the Eight Women to Watch" by the DuPage County Bar Association. STEPHANIE A. KASTEN is an attorney with The Gitlin Law Firm, P.C., where she concentrates her practice in the area of family law. Ms. Kasten has previously spoken and written materials on family law topics for National Business Institute. She earned her B.A. degree from Grinnell College and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from Northern Illinois University. Ms. Kasten is a member of the American Bar Association (Family Law Section) and the Illinois State Bar Association. She is a member of the Family Section of the McHenry County Bar Association, and she previously served as the section's president and vice president. FRANCES H. KRASNOW is a principal of the law firm of Fischel & Kahn, Ltd. She has practiced law for more than 32 years, with extensive experience in all aspects of complex family law, including, marital dissolutions, asset identification and allocation, custody issues, child support and maintenance issues, prenuptial agreements, and post-decree matters. Ms. Krasnow had led presentations for the National Business Institute in the past, and is very involved in the Chicago community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Anti-Defamation League, the Illinois Appleseed Foundation, the Hillels of Illinois and she is also on the Board of Directors of the Lake Forest Bank & Trust Company. She is a former commissioner of the City of Highland Park and former director of the Standard Club of Chicago. Ms. Krasnow had been recognized by her peers as a leader in her field and has received many honors, including Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating, Leading Lawyers Network, as well as other awards and honors. She earned her B.A. degree, with high distinction, from the University of Michigan, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and she earned her J.D. degree from Northwestern University, where she was awarded the American College of Trial Lawyers Medal for Excellence in Advocacy.
