ELIZABETH A. KANE is a sole practitioner in Honolulu, where her practice is concentrated in the areas of bankruptcy law, creditors' rights and commercial litigation. She earned her B.A. degree from James Madison University and her J.D. degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley. Ms. Kane has lectured on her areas of practice. She is a member of the Hawaii State (member, Bankruptcy Section) and American bar associations and the State Bar of Arizona. KHALED S. MUJTABAA is a sole practitioner in Honolulu, where he practices in the areas of chapter 7 bankruptcy, chapter 13 bankruptcy, divorce law, legal separations, mortgage payment problems, foreclosures, real estate law, unlawful termination, and civil litigations. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Hawaii. Mr. Mujtabaa is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association. He earned his B.S. degree from the North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University, and his J.D. degree from Howard University. LARS PETERSON is a sole practitioner in Honolulu, where his practice concentrates on bankruptcy law, criminal defense, insurance coverage disputes, and personal injury. He also practices in the areas of general civil and commercial litigation and handles commercial transactions and business related matters. Mr. Peterson is admitted to practice before all the courts in the State of Hawaii and the State of Georgia, the U.S. District Court (District of Hawaii), the U.S. Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit), and is eligible to practice in Germany and European Union member states. After graduation from the University of Konstanz School of Law and completing the mandatory two year clerkship, he obtained his German J.D. degree. After relocation to Hawaii, Mr. Peterson first attended the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, then the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was awarded the American Bankruptcy Institute Certificate of Excellence in Bankruptcy and earned his U.S. J.D. degree. Upon graduation, Mr. Peterson practiced in Georgia in the areas of bankruptcy law, criminal defense, and general civil litigation for one year. Since returning to Hawaii in 2006, he has worked at the Legislative Reference Bureau at the State Capitol and has gained significant trial experience while working at the Office of the Public Defender for the State of Hawaii in Honolulu. RICHARD A. YANAGI is a sole practitioner in Honolulu where he practices in the areas of collections, summary possession, landlord-tenant law, and civil litigation and is a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee. Mr. Yanagi earned his A.B. degree from Harvard University and his J.D. degree from Hastings College of the Law, University of California. He is a lecturer on business law at Leeward Community College and has also lectured on the "Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act," "Practical Pointers on Handling Civil Cases in State District Court" and other topics. He is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, (former director, Young Lawyers Division, 1996) and the State Bar of California (inactive).
