ANDREA L. JOLLIFFE is an attorney in the Athens office of Hall Booth Smith & Slover, PC. Ms. Jolliffe's practice is devoted almost exclusively to the defense and representation of public educational institutions. She provides advice and counsel to elected officials and school administrators on issues related to employment, equity and discrimination, school safety and security, special education, student rights and discipline, and records management. Ms. Jolliffe has assisted in defending educational institutions at both the trial and appellate level. She has also helped educational institutions avoid trial by successfully raising available immunity defenses. Ms. Jolliffe is a regular speaker on topics related to special education and student records. She provides ongoing counsel to school district officials, including reviewing and revising institutional policies and procedures, assisting with internal investigations of discrimination and sexual harassment, and evaluating and responding to requests for disability-related accommodations and special education services. Prior to joining HBSS, Ms. Jolliffe was the assistant director for legal affairs at the University of Georgia where she provided legal counsel to senior level administrators on a variety of legal issues related to post-secondary education, including employment discrimination, student discipline, and campus safety. Ms. Jolliffe also administered the University of Georgia's employee grievance process, investigated complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment, and provided sexual harassment training to university employees. Ms. Jolliffe is a native of the Washington, D.C., area. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her J.D. degree from the University of Maryland School of Law. While in law school, Ms. Jolliffe clerked with the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division and interned with the State of Maryland Office of the Attorney General, Health Education and Advocacy Unit. Following law school, Ms. Jolliffe was awarded a public interest fellowship with Atlanta Legal Aid Society where she worked with the Mental Health and Disability Law Unit. SUZANN WILCOX JILES is an attorney with Brock, Clay, Calhoun & Rogers, LLC, where she works exclusively with public school districts in Brock Clay's Education Group. She specializes in advising large and small school districts in areas such as policies/procedures, privacy concerns, No Child Left Behind, student issues and discipline, special education and constitutional matters. Ms. Jiles also conducts seminars for the firm's clients and school personnel around the state, and is certified to provide school board member training. She is committed to developing strong relationships with her clients and state educational professionals in order to assist school districts with the demanding and complex legal issues that affect school district daily. Ms. Jiles is involved in a variety of activities professionally and in the community. Ms. Jiles earned her B.B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee and her J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Florida College of Law.
