MICHAEL A. CALDWELL is an attorney who represents public and private employers in employment and labor law. He is a principal in the Atlanta law firm of DeLong, Caldwell, Bridgers & Fitzpatrick, L.L.C., which represents both individuals and businesses in a wide variety of civil and commercial litigation, administrative law, and employment and labor law. Mr. Caldwell is his firm's most senior employment and labor law practitioner, having practiced labor law for more than 40 years. He started as a legal intern and later a staff and trial attorney in the general counsel's office of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C., and in its Baltimore regional office. Since 1977, Mr. Caldwell has engaged in private employment and labor law practice in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. He represents employers and individuals before the EEOC, NLRB, federal and state Departments of Labor, OSHA, OFCCP, and before state and federal courts and agencies. Mr. Caldwell received both his B.A. (with honors) and J.D. degrees from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He is an adjunct professor of human resources management at Columbus State University's Law Enforcement Command College, and has been an instructor in human resources law and ethics at the Beebe Institute at Georgia State University's Graduate School of Business. He has lectured extensively at universities, CLE seminars, and other business and labor law seminars throughout the United States. He is past chairman of the State Bar of Georgia Labor and Employment Law Section, and he has served as a hearing officer for Georgia's State Board of Professional Standards as well as for various municipal personnel boards in Georgia. Mr. Caldwell is general counsel to the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police and to the Georgia Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. He also serves as a "virtual human resources director" for various cities and small businesses. DARA L. DeHAVEN is a shareholder in the Atlanta law office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, where she concentrates her practice on state and federal court litigation and general labor and employment law. Ms. DeHaven advises clients in developing, implementing and monitoring preventive maintenance programs to ensure regulatory compliance, and to assist in dealing with employment matters before they reach litigation. This practice includes policy design and review, supervisory training, investigation, analysis, and resolution of complex employment situations. This preventive practice is based on substantial experience representing management in state and federal courts, and before the EEOC, NLRB, OSHA, OFCCP, and U.S. Department of Labor. Ms. DeHaven provides counsel in all areas of labor law, particularly affirmative action plan design and implementation, employment discrimination, wrongful termination, restrictive covenants, workplace torts, wage hour laws, maintenance of union-free operations, collective bargaining administration, arbitration, and related issues. She is a frequent speaker to local and national business, and professional and civic organizations on labor and employment related issues. Ms. DeHaven earned her B.A. degree, magna cum laude, with highest honors in history; her M.A. degree in history and university administration; and her J.D. degree at Duke University. She also served as an assistant dean at Emory University in Atlanta. ALLEGRA J. LAWRENCE-HARDY is a partner in the firm of Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, where she is a member of the Litigation Practice Group and co-leader of the Business and Commercial Litigation team. She has extensive experience handling complex multi-party, class action, multi-jurisdictional commercial, labor and employment matters. Ms. Lawrence-Hardy has successfully defended primarily Fortune 100 companies throughout the U.S. and abroad in trials, arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. WOZNIAK is a shareholder in Greenberg Traurig's Atlanta office. He is a trial lawyer who defends companies and public institutions throughout the United States in labor and employment ERISA and business disputes. He is experienced in wage-and-hour litigation, state and federal whistle-blower statutes, non-discrimination laws, plant closing and mass layoff laws, collective bargaining and traditional labor relations, noncompete and trade secrets litigation, and ERISA and employee benefits litigation.
