JORGE M. ABRIL is managing partner in the Miami firm of Jorge M. Abril, P.A., where he practices in the areas of consumer collections, commercial litigation, hospital and medical collections, health care reimbursement, including managed care lawsuits and collection related litigation. He has more than 30 years of experience in the debt collection industry and extensive litigation exposure in the representation of commercial and consumer creditors. Mr. Abril frequently lectures in the areas of collections, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, healthcare collections and other collections related issues. He earned his B.A. degree from California State University and his J.D. degree from Nova Southeastern University Law School, where he was a member of the national competitor of the Moot Court Society. Mr. Abril is a member of the Coral Gables, Miami-Dade County and American bar associations, and The Florida Bar, the Cuban American Bar Association, the Latin Builders Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, the Commercial Law League of America and the American Collectors Association. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District in the Southern District. KEVIN M. ECKHARDT is an attorney with Hunton & Williams LLP in Miami, where his main areas of practice are bankruptcy, creditors' rights, receivership, commercial litigation and Indian law. He was a law clerk for Judge Jerry A. Funk, United States Bankruptcy Judge, 2000 - 2001. Mr. Eckhardt has been named an "Up and Comer" young attorney by the South Florida Legal Guide and a "Florida Super Lawyer" by the publication South Florida Legal Guide as well. He is a member of The Florida Bar, American Bankruptcy Institute, U.S. Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 11th Circuit. Mr. Eckhardt is admitted to practice in both New York and Florida. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, and his B.A. degree, cum laude, from Syracuse University, and his J.D. degree, with honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. FREDRIC M. GARVETT is the managing partner and co-founder of Silver, Garvett & Henkel, P.A. He has been practicing law for more than 25 years. Mr. Garvett's main areas of practice are creditors' rights and asset protection, and contracts and business transactions. He has authored and lectured on the topics of fraudulent conveyances and contract law, and he also contributed to J. Ramirez's Third Edition Florida Civil Procedure. Mr. Garvett earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Florida.
