STEPHEN M. CODY is principal of the firm Stephen Cody, P.A., in Palmetto Bay. He practices in the areas of civil rights, Americans With Disabilities Act, disability discrimination and disabled access, election law, appeals, and commercial litigation. Mr. Cody was a legislative aide to Representative William E. Sadowski of Miami, who was the initial sponsor of Florida's Limited Liability Act, and helped to draft that act. He has published articles on the American With Disabilities Act in the Miami Herald, and also is a published novelist. Mr. Cody earned his B.S. degree from Florida State University and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida. He is a member of The Florida Bar (member, sections on Corporation, Banking and Business law, Appellate Practice, and Trial Practice). DALE R. HIGHTOWER is a founding partner at Hightower & Partners. Mr. Hightower specializes in, but is not limited to, construction law, contracts, environmental law, general negligence, insurance defense, premises liability, products liability, resorts and leisure (including hotels, restaurants and bars) and transportation negligence. Since forming his own firm, he has been invited to speak at numerous legal seminars on topics ranging from discovery techniques to closing arguments. Mr. Hightower was selected as a member of Who's Who Among American Business Executives. In 2007, 2008 and 2009 he was named a top lawyer in the state of Florida by the South Florida Legal Guide. In 2009, Mr. Hightower was invited by the advisory board to become a fellow member of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society composed of less than one-half of 1% of American lawyers. He served in numerous capacities in the Dade County Bar Association. Mr. Hightower sat on the Board of Directors and served as Public Relations Director of the Dade County Bar. He also hosted the Dade County Bar's legal television show In the Public Interest. Mr. Hightower is an active member The Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA), The Florida Defense Lawyers Association (FDLA), Florida Trucking Association (FTA), American Trucking Association (ATA), Trucking Law Committee of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), South Florida Claim Association, The State of New York Claim Association, U.S. District Court, Middle District of Florida, U.S. Supreme Court and Dade County Bar Association. He earned his B.S. degree from Florida Southern College and his J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law of Samford University. OSCAR A. SANCHEZ is a shareholder in the Miami office of Akerman Senterfitt, where he is a trial lawyer and complex business litigator concentrating his practice in business torts, contracts and real property litigation. Mr. Sanchez is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit, and the U.S. District Court Middle and Southern District of Florida. He has previous lecturing experience on Drafting and Enforcing Commercial Leases, on November 6, 2007, Managing Residential Property: Avoiding Tenant Disputes and Evictions, on May 11, 2007, and Evictions and Landlord/Tenant Law in Florida in July of 2002 for the National Business Institute, as well as other lectures and seminars for other entities and organizations such as the American Trial Lawyers Association and the University of Miami School of Law, Ralph E. Boyers Twentieth Institute on Real Property and Condominium Law. Mr. Sanchez earned his B.A., M.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Florida earning membership in the Order of the Coif. He is a member of The Florida Bar.
