SEAN A. DOLAN is a trial counsel with the Law Office of Cynthia G. Beam where he practices in the areas of defense litigation, including automobile injuries, workers' compensation, premises liability and insurance coverage. He has lectured to various professionals on uninsured and underinsured motorist matters, as well as workers' compensation and insurance matters. Mr. Dolan earned his B.A. degree from the University of Delaware and his J.D. degree from Widener University School of Law, where he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society. He also was a managing editor and member of the board of editors for the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. Mr. Dolan is a member of the Delaware State (member, Litigation and Workers' Compensation sections) and American bar associations. CHRISTINE HUMMEL is the president and founder of Hummel Consultation Services, a legal consultation practice specializing in the application of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. An active attorney with licensure in the state of Colorado, she earned her J.D. degree from the University of Denver. Ms. Hummel focused her internships on Medicare compliance for two years before earning her degree, and she continues to practice in this field of law. In 2002, Ms. Hummel opened her own firm. With more than 12 years of experience in Medicare compliance, she is a published author and a popular speaker on a wide array of topics related to Medicare compliance. Ms. Hummel has worked directly with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services in regard to new implementation procedures as to the applicability of the Medicare Secondary Payer Act to third party liability settlements. She is a member of the American (member, Health Law Section) and Colorado bar associations, and includes with her legal experience work in Medicaid, probate and elder law. JASON C. POWELL is a partner at the firm of Ferry, Joseph & Pearce, P.A., and he has been associated with the firm since 1997. Mr. Powell has a substantial, diverse practice, focusing on bankruptcy law; chancery court litigation; and advocacy/representation of the elderly, disabled and mentally ill. He is a member of the Delaware and American bar associations, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, the Delaware Elder Law Committee (former chair), the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and the Delaware Estates and Trusts Committee. Mr. Powell earned his B.A. degree from La Salle University and his J.D. degree from Widener University School of Law. KRISTOPHER T. STARR is an attorney with the firm of Ferry, Joseph & Pearce, P.A. He earned his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law and his bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Delaware. After law school, Mr. Starr's legal career started at the Wilmington law firm of Maron & Marvel. He then practiced in various government legal capacities, first as deputy attorney general, then as a hearing officer for the state Industrial Accident Board and Office of Workers' Compensation. Most recently, Mr. Starr served as risk manager and assistant county attorney for New Castle County, where he was responsible for all county insurance programs. Mr. Starr also defended New Castle County in insurance litigation, concentrating on workers' compensation defense. He has served as attorney ad litem and neutral attorney fact finder in several hundred cases on appointment by the Court of Chancery in the areas of guardianship, trust, estate and elder law. Mr. Starr is a frequent lecturer for the Delaware State Bar Association and third-party CLE providers on workers' compensation, advanced workers' compensation and elder law topics.
