BRENDAN F. DALY is a principal of Czepiga Daly Dillman LLC, where he practices in the areas of elder law, estate and disability planning and estate administration. He has received the designation of Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), a certification awarded by the National Elder Law foundation, the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer certification in elder law (but not recognized by the Rules Committee of the Superior Court), as a result of his experience, education and testing by the Foundation. This certification in elder law provides a measure of assurance to the public that the attorney has an in-depth working knowledge of the legal issues that impact the elderly. Mr. Daly is very active in public speaking as an adult education instructor, teaching courses on estate and Medicaid planning. He also conducts seminars at area senior centers, nursing homes, civic groups and charitable groups regarding long-term care issues and estate planning. He has written numerous articles regarding estate planning, Medicaid and long-term care, which have appeared in professional journals and newspapers. Mr. Daly is a member of the Elder Law Executive Committee and Estates and Probate sections of the Connecticut Bar Association. He also is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, including its Connecticut Chapter. LISA NACHMIAS DAVIS is a principal in the New Haven firm of Davis O'Sullivan & Priest LLC. Her practice includes both planning for individuals (estate planning and administration, elder law, planning for those with disabilities) and advising nonprofit organizations. Ms. Davis has received the designation of Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), a certification awarded by the National Elder Law foundation, the only organization approved by the American Bar Association to offer certification in elder law (but not recognized by the Rules Committee of the Superior Court). She is the co-author of The Elder Law Answer Book and a frequent speaker on elder law/special needs and estate planning topics. Ms. Davis is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Special Needs Alliance, and serves on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association Elder Law Section. Ms. Davis maintains a website at www.sharinglaw.net and hosts an internet discussion group for Connecticut law attorneys. LEA NORDLICHT SHEDD practices elder law as a member of the law firm Shedd and Hoberman, L.L.C. in Hamden, Connecticut. She is a past chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Elder Law Section (1992-1994), and a member of that section's Executive Committee, serving on various section sub-committees over the years. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and its Connecticut Chapter. Ms. Shedd earned her B.A. degree, cum laude, from New York University (University Heights) in 1972, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1978. Ms. Shedd is a frequent speaker on legal issues affecting older persons and has written extensively in this field. She has made presentations to judges, lawyers, members of the financial community and local community groups. Her writings include articles on the range of housing alternatives available to older persons, ethical issues confronting the elder law attorney, Medicaid and a history of the Connecticut Bar Association Elder Law Section. From 1980 to 1986 she was chair of the Legal Studies Department of Quinnipiac College, (now Quinnipiac University), Hamden, Connecticut, where she developed and taught the undergraduate course, legal problems of the elderly. She continued to teach elder law at Quinnipiac as an adjunct faculty member, at both the undergraduate level and at the law school through 2009.
