MALCOLM F. BARLOW is a partner in the Manchester firm of Barlow & Murphy, LLP, where he practices in the areas of elder law, probate, personal injury and real estate. He has been involved in probate practice since 1978 and has litigated probate issues including the admission of wills. Mr. Barlow is a frequent lecturer at seminars on elder law and probate matters. He is a past president of the Manchester Bar Association, and is a member of the Hartford County and Connecticut bar associations. Mr. Barlow is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Association of Justice, and the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He also is a participating attorney in the AARP Legal Services Network, is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and is a member of the Connecticut Chapter of NAELA. Mr. Barlow earned his B.A., in English, from the University of Connecticut in 1965. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut in 1977. GEORGE B. BICKFORD is a sole practitioner in East Granby, Connecticut, where he focuses his practice on elder law issues. For many years he has been a guest speaker before bar, medical, social service and public groups on the topics of Social Security, Medicaid and estate planning for the elderly with long-term medical needs, the area in which he currently limits his practice. From 1974 through 1981, Mr. Bickford was employed by Neighborhood Legal Services, Inc. During his last three years there he was director of the Senior Citizens Law Project covering North Central Connecticut. From January of 1982 through October of 1992 he was a partner in the firm of Weed & Bickford (formerly Weed, Kerrigan & Bickford), engaged in the general practice of law. Mr. Bickford was a member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter for many years, and for which he continues to provide counsel and assistance. He also is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, on the executive committee of the Elder Law Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, and co-chairs the Elder Law Committee of the Hartford County Bar Association. Mr. Bickford earned his B.A. degree, in political science, from Harvard College in 1973. He earned his J.D. degree from the University of Connecticut in 1978. MARILYN TOLAND is a principal of the Toland Law Firm with offices in Hamden and Waterbury, Connecticut. She practices in the areas of elder law, estate planning and settlement, special needs, conservatorships, and probate administration. Ms. Toland is a member of the executive committees of the Connecticut Bar Association's Estate & Probate and Elder Law sections, and of the Professional Ethics Committee. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Connecticut chapter. Ms. Toland is a James W. Cooper Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. She is a chair of the Board of Directors of Connecticut Care, Inc. (CCCI). Ms. Toland has more than 20 years of legal experience and is a frequent speaker on issues involving elder law, estate planning, and professional ethics. She earned her B.A. degrees in political science and sociology, summa cum laude, from Fisk University in 1976. Ms. Toland earned her J.D. degree from Yale University in 1990.
