HEATHER A. BISHOP is a legal assistant at the law firm of McConnell Fleischner Houghtaling, LLC, in Denver. Ms. Bishop provides secretarial and administrative support to two named partners and one associate including scheduling, docketing (deadline management), correspondence preparation/editing, pleading preparation/editing, paperless implementation and overall case management. She handles all aspects of the case from initial client contact to trial preparation and participation. Ms. Bishop is currently a senior at Metropolitan State College. SHANNON GOLIGHTLY works for Fennemore Craig in Denver, Colorado, as a medical paralegal in the area of medical negligence defense. Retraining approximately ten years ago from web-based software and website development work, she now works exclusively with medical cases. Ms. Golightly has a AAS degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor of Science degree in business. Professional interests include electronic medical records systems and participating as a member of the Paralegal Studies development board for Kaplan College (formerly Denver Paralegal Institute). DEBRA HINDIN-KING is a litigation paralegal in the Denver law firm of Wheeler Trigg O'Donnell LLP. She frequently speaks and writes on computerized litigation support, electronic trial presentation programs and paralegal utilization for legal professionals. Her background includes commercial litigation, with an emphasis in contract, environmental and oil and gas. Formerly, she was a paralegal at the law firm of Holland & Hart LLP, courtroom deputy with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court and a litigation paralegal for another national law firm in Denver. She received her B.A. degree from Colorado Women's College, her M.M.E. degree from the University of Colorado and a paralegal certificate from the University of Colorado - Denver. Ms. Hindin-King currently serves as the National Federation of Paralegal Associations, Inc.'s Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and has served as a past board member/Region II Director and technology coordinator for the Federation. She is a member of the Rocky Mountain Paralegal Association and received the 2003 Pro Bono Paralegal of the Year award and the 2009 NFPA Paralegal of the Year award. Ms. Hindin-King was recognized as Paralegal/Gateway's Paralegal Superstar in November 2009. She was profiled in the December 2010 issue of Law Technology News. Ms. Hindin-King is an associate member of The Colorado Bar Association, Texas Bar Association/Paralegal Division and a member of the Colorado Association of Litigation Support Professionals.
TROY R. RACKHAM is Of Counsel at Fennemore Craig. Formerly a member at McConnell Fleischner Houghtaling, LLC, he was selected as a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers in 2009, 2010 and 2011. His practice includes employment and civil rights law, legal and medical malpractice and other forms of complex litigation. Mr. Rackham defends lawyers, hospitals, nursing homes, long term care facilities and other health care organizations in a wide variety of cases and claims. He regularly advises legal professionals on ethics, malpractice and professional liability issues. Mr. Rackham has orally argued or prepared the briefs in dozens of appellate cases, most of which involved claims against lawyers, hospitals, physicians, or health care systems. He frequently teaches courses for legal and medical professionals. Mr. Rackham has written numerous articles and chapters on civil litigation and professional liability issues. He is a member of the American, Colorado and Denver bar associations. KAREN C. WHALEN, ACP, RP, is a paralegal with more than 20 years of experience at Hall & Evans, LLC, in Denver, Colorado. Ms. Whalen earned her B.S. degree from Northern Illinois University and her post-graduate paralegal certificate from Roosevelt University. She earned the ACP (Advanced Certified Paralegal in the Litigation Specialty) and PACE (Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam) registered paralegal credentials. Ms. Whalen has previously presented CLE accredited seminars on ethics, legal writing, medical records evaluation, and trial preparation for the Institute for Paralegal Education and co-presented a CLE accredited seminar titled "Litigation Boot Camp II - Trial Management/Presentation Technology" for the Colorado Bar Association. She has written articles for Facts & Findings and authors a regular column about technology for The National Paralegal Reporter. VICKIE L. YEOMANS has been a paralegal with Hall & Evans, LLC, for 15 years. Ms.Yeomans has experience in complex litigation, document and case management databases, as well as high-tech courtroom presentations. In total she has 27 years of legal experience including employment with both plaintiff and defense oriented law firms. Ms. Yeomans has been involved with, managed and coordinated hundreds of cases for large national corporations involving the south central and Rocky Mountain regions. She has lectured for both the Institute of Paralegal Education and Colorado Bar Association on CLE accredited programs. She co-wrote "Countdown to Trial: Effective Use of Evidence", "Litigation Boot Camp II: Trial Management Technology" and "Leveraging Technology to Manage Documents".
