KERRI J. ATENCIO practices law at Roberts Levin Rosenberg PC, where she primarily represents insurance companies in coverage disputes and bad faith lawsuits, including ERISA cases. Ms. Atencio also handles employment, real estate, and commercial litigation matters and authored or contributed to more than a dozen articles on topics related to her practice areas. She is admitted to practice in the states of Colorado and Montana, as well as before the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. For the second year in a row, she is a member of the American Heart Association Denver Heart Walk Executive Leadership Team, and has volunteered hundreds of hours to other community projects, pro bono cases and the improvement of the legal profession in her 12 years of practice. Ms. Atencio served as the chairperson of the Colorado Bar Association Young Lawyers Division from 2005-2006 and is a member of the Colorado Bar Foundation. KARL A. CHAMBERS is a partner in the Greenwood Village law firm of Seaman, Murphy & Chambers, P.C., where his main areas of practice include insurance bad faith, auto liability and construction defect defense. He earned his B.S. degree from Colorado State University and his J.D. degree from the University of San Diego. Mr. Chambers is a member of the Colorado and American bar associations, as well as the Defense Research Institute. JAMES D. JOHNSON practices law with the Denver firm of Ayd & Johnson, P.C. He has practiced law in Colorado since 1978 and is licensed to appear in all trial and appellate courts in the state of Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Throughout his 31 years of practice, Mr. Johnson's work has been concentrated in various aspects of the insurance defense field. In recent years, his practice has tended to concentrate on insurance coverage issues, defense of bad faith claims, and defense of insurance class-action litigation. Mr. Johnson is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs for attorneys, as well as continuing education programs for claim professionals and others in the insurance industry. He is a member of the American, Colorado and Denver bar associations, and the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel. Mr. Johnson earned his B.A. degree from the University of Wyoming and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver College of Law. BRENDAN O'ROURKE POWERS is a partner in the Denver law firm of Spies, Powers & Robinson, P.C., where he specializes in the areas of insurance defense, insurance coverage, insurance fraud, commercial litigation, civil appeals and construction defects. He has been named as a Super Lawyer by 5280 magazine for the past five years. Mr. Powers has lectured to various professional groups on his areas of practice, especially insurance bad faith, professionalism and fraud. Mr. Powers earned his B.A. degree from Indiana University and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver. He currently is the president of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association in Colorado and is a member of DRI. He also is a member of The Colorado Bar Association, the Alaska Bar Association and the American Bar Association.
