DR. CARLTON CLINKSCALES is a fellowship-trained, orthopaedic hand and upper extremity surgeon who joined Hand Surgery Associates, P.C. in 1998. After completing a degree in religion from Davidson College, he moved on to his medical education at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Clinkscales then moved on to his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, after which he completed his fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. His prestigious CV includes time spent as the president of the Rocky Mountain Hand Surgery Society, board member of the Denver Medical Society, and assistant professor to the Department of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. DR. I. STEPHEN DAVIS is an orthopedic surgeon with Orthopedic Evaluators, PLLC. Dr. Davis is a Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon and Level II Certified in Workers' Compensation. He main areas of practice are the organization of complex medical records, patient interviews and examination, interpretation of imaging studies, rendering unbiased and evidence based opinions, personal conferences, and deposition and trial testimony. KARA KOHN is CEO of Colorado Legal Nurse Consultants, a firm that brings extensive medical knowledge and expert witness services to law firms. She is certified by the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants. In addition to serving as an expert witness in a number of cases, Ms. Kohn has worked on cases that involved medical malpractice, personal injury, and mass product liability as well as national class action lawsuits. Based in Colorado, the firm provides services to lawyers across the nation. Ms. Kohn spent more than 8 years as a hospital nurse, first in the ICU then moving to the OR as a charge nurse. While at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, she was part of the implementation and training team for the institution's new electronic medical record and documentation system, launched in 2009. Ms. Kohn was responsible for training some 125 perioperative staff on the use of the new system. She earned her B.A. degree from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, and is completing work on her MBA at Regis University, Denver. While an undergraduate, Ms. Kohn participated in clinical rotations at the Mayo Clinic, which included coaching special needs adults as they prepared to transition to community living. Her areas of specialty include cardiovascular, vascular, and general surgery, as well as special needs adults and group homecare. DR. ROBERT L. MESSENBAUGH has practiced orthopedic surgery in Denver, Colorado for 30 years, specializing in orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, joint replacements, as well as shoulder and knee reconstruction. Dr. Messenbaugh is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and in Independent Medical Examinations. He also has been Level II accredited for Workers' Compensation since 2004. Dr. Messenbaugh earned his B.A. degree from HarvardUniversity and his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine. He completed his surgical Internship with Genessee Hospital and Orthopedic Surgery Residency from the University of Denver. KENNETH B. PENNYWELL is an attorney in the law firm of Franklin D. Azar & Associates, P.C., where he practices in the areas of personal injury, civil litigation and attorney ethics. He formerly served as an assistant district attorney for the 1st Judicial District in Shreveport, Louisiana and served on the Colorado Supreme Court Standing Committee on Rules of Professional Conduct from 2006-2009. Mr. Pennywell worked for seven years with the Colorado Supreme Court Office of Attorney Regulation as a trial attorney, handling ethical violations on the part of Colorado licensed attorneys. He currently represents clients in Louisiana who sustained damages as a result of the British Petroleum gulf oil spill. Mr. Pennywell also participated in the mass tort action in Mississippi against Walmart for labor violations regarding hourly employees. He earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Mr. Pennywell is a member of the Colorado and Louisiana State bar associations, and a former member of the National District Attorney Counsel.
