ERIC GRANT is part of the Sacramento, California office of Houston, Texas-based Hicks Thomas LLP, a boutique litigation firm. He focuses on litigation in the federal and California courts in constitutional and complex statutory matters, particularly including environmental law. In addition to trial litigation in the Eastern District of California, Mr. Grant has briefed and argued numerous appeals in the Ninth Circuit and other appellate courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court and the California Supreme Court. Mr. Grant earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of California, Berkeley. Immediately following law school, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Edith H. Jones, now Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. During the Supreme Court's October 1994 term, he served as a law clerk to Retired Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and to Associate Justice Clarence Thomas. Mr. Grant is the author of scholarly articles on constitutional law that have appeared in the Northwestern University Law Review, in Constitutional Commentary, and in The Heritage Guide to the Constitution. MARK J. TAMBLYN joined Wexler Wallace LLP, as a partner in 2006, and manages its Sacramento, California office. Mr. Tamblyn has been practicing in the areas of complex and class action litigation since 1995, representing clients ranging from large corporations to individual consumers. His cases primarily involve antitrust violations, consumer protection, e-commerce, and defective products. He has served as Judge Pro Tem of the Sacramento County Superior Court. Mr. Tamblyn was named a 2009 Northern California Rising Star, as published by Law and Politics. He has previously lectured on class action practice and complex litigation case management before such groups as the National Consumer Law Center and National Business Institute. He is a member of the Antitrust and Unfair Competition Section of the California State Bar, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and the Consumer Attorneys of California. Mr. Tamblyn is a graduate of the University of California, Davis and received his Juris Doctorate degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. BENJAMIN L. WEBSTER is the Office Managing Shareholder of Littler Mendelson P.C.'s Sacramento office. He has extensive experience handling trials, binding arbitrations and mediations in a variety of complex disputes. Mr. Webster has defended countless lawsuits in state and federal court involving allegations such as breach of contract, misappropriation of proprietary information, unfair competition and other business torts, defamation, invasion of privacy, sexual harassment and discrimination based on race, sex, age, religion, sexual orientation, disability and immigration status. He has prosecuted and defended numerous trade secret cases, winning and defeating requests for injunctive relief in high stakes, time-sensitive disputes. He has also been involved in the defense of class action lawsuits, including wage-hour and discrimination claims. Mr. Webster has provided labor and employment advice to various local, regional, and national clients, including those involved in manufacturing, construction, banking, high-tech, telecommunications, real estate, insurance, health care, lobbying and the restaurant and grocery businesses. Prior to Littler Mendelson P.C., Mr. Webster practiced commercial litigation, with an emphasis in labor and employment law, for the Pillsbury law firm, where he was managing partner of the Sacramento office for the eight years preceding his departure. During the four years between college and law school, Mr. Webster worked as a reporter for the daily newspaper in Red Bluff, CA, in Washington, DC, as a legislative correspondent for Congressman Harold T. "Bizz" Johnson (D-CA) and later as a Legislative and Policy Analyst and Newsletter Editor for the Joint Maritime Congress. Mr. Webster received his B.A. degree from Stanford University and his J.D. degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
