OLGA ÁLVAREZ is an associate with Sullivan Hill Lewin Rez & Engel, where she focuses her practice on estate planning, probate, trust administration, trust litigation and elder law advocacy. Ms. Álvarez specializes in preserving and protecting assets for all clients, including both high net worth individuals and middle-income families where long-term health care costs exhaust the corpus of the estate. She also has assisted in successfully litigating trust disputes and probate matters. Ms. Álvarez is a member of the California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform; National Academy for Elder Law Attorneys; the San Diego County Bar Association, including the Estate Planning, Trust & Probate and Elder Law sections; and Lawyers Club of San Diego. She also volunteers at the San Diego Elder Law and Advocacy Center and serves on the Board of Directors for the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park. In 2009, the San Diego Daily Transcript named Ms. Álvarez as one of the Top Young Attorneys in San Diego. She is co-author of, "No Contest Clauses in Wills and Trusts," Estate Planning Strategies. CHRIS COOPER is a certified financial planner, enrolled agent, and owner and president of Chris Cooper & Company, with offices in Toledo, Ohio and San Diego, California. He provides counseling and guidance in the areas of investments, taxation and estate preservation. Mr. Cooper also is the owner and founder of ElderCare Advocates, Inc., a private geriatric care management, private fiduciary and long-term consulting firm. He has been quoted in print in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, New York Times, Kiplinger's Personal Finance and many other publications. Mr. Cooper earned his B.S.N. degree from Wright State University and his M.S. degree from the American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He has completed the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant designations, and received a graduate certificate in gerontology at Bowling Green State University. Mr. Cooper is past president of the Ohio Council of the Alzheimer's Association; past president of the Northwest Ohio Chapter of the Financial Planning Association; and past president of the Luther Home Of Mercy in Williston, Ohio. R. SCOTT STEWART is an attorney with Elder Care Law Firm. He has concentrated his law practice on solving the legal problems affecting the California senior population. These problems include Medi-Cal benefit law, estate planning, and asset protection and retention. Mr. Stewart is a member of the State Bar of California, San Diego County Bar Association, California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and WealthCounsel. He served as co-chair of the San Diego County Bar Association (Elder Law Section) in 2006 and 2007, and was reelected for the current 2011 term. In this position, Mr. Stewart is responsible for directing the continuing education programs for the San Diego County Bar Association and other Southern California elder law attorneys. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the George G. Glenner Alzheimer Family Centers. Mr. Stewart was named as one of the Top Attorneys by Palm Springs Life Magazine in the field of elder law. He has appeared as a regular guest on the Lawyer in Blue Jeans radio show. Mr. Stewart also has appeared on KGTV Channel 10 News and KUSI Channel 9 News in San Diego, California. He earned his B.A. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and his J.D. degree from California Western School of Law.
