ELDON S. EDSON is a partner in the law firm of Selman Breitman LLP, where he specializes in the handling of complex litigation matters including the litigation of insurance coverage and related extracontractual matters, construction claims, commercial/business claims and environmental tort claims. Mr. Edson earned his B.A. degree from the University of California - Los Angeles, and his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Pepperdine University School of Law. He is admitted to practice before all California state courts and the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Mr. Edson is a member of the American Bar Association (Litigation Section). He is also a committee chair and serves on the Coverage/Bad Faith Substantive Law Committee for the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Mr. Edson has served as a mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court Mandatory Settlement Conference Pilot Project. He is a regular speaker at seminars and on panels on various legal topics, including insurance coverage issues and environmental tort issues. His speaking engagements include, but are not limited to, the American Bar Association, Section of Litigation, Environmental Litigation seminar in Snowmass, Colorado; the 11th Annual West Coast Casualty Construction Defect Seminar; the 8th Annual MC2 Consultants Seminar in Lake Tahoe, California; the 9th Annual MC2 Consultants Seminar in Colorado Springs, Colorado; the 15th Annual Combined Claims Conference in Los Angeles; and The Association of Defense Counsel of Northern California. He has also spoken extensively to businesses, trade groups and various insurance industry groups throughout California, Arizona and in Arkansas. JAN L. POCATERRA is a partner in the law firm of Selman Breitman LLP, where she focuses on all areas of insurance coverage litigation, with a concentration in both commercial property-casualty issues, including personal and advertising injury coverage, as well as garage and auto coverage. Ms. Pocaterra has extensive experience addressing coverage issues in jurisdictions outside California. She also specializes in bad faith litigation, appellate work and coverage matters related to contribution and other equitable recovery actions. Ms. Pocaterra was educated at the University of Kansas and later earned her B.A. in Human Services, with honors, from National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois. She earned her J.D. degree from De Paul University College of Law while serving as a research assistant to the Associate Dean. She is currently licensed to practice before all state and federal courts in Illinois and California and the United States Supreme Court. Ms. Pocaterra has also been active in legal associations, both locally and on the national level, as a member of the California Women's Lawyers Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the American Bar Association and currently with the Defense Research Institute, the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and the California and Illinois Bar Associations. Ms. Pocaterra presents local and national seminars for both legal and insurance personnel on various insurance coverage issues, bad faith litigation and claims handling.
