ROBERT S. FLETCHER is the principal attorney for the Fletcher Law Practice with offices in Newark. He has represented several clients in a wide range of legal issues throughout California. Mr. Fletcher earned his undergraduate degree at California State University at Sonoma and his J.D. degree at Golden Gate University School of Law. His work has focused on representing businesses on a wide range of issues, including entity formation, drafting and negotiating contracts, and litigating business disputes. Mr. Fletcher previously worked for the State of California at the State Coastal Conservancy. MELINDA GARCIA is a shareholder in the firm of Garcia & Gurney, where she provides both litigation and transactional services to her clients. She also advises business owners in all aspects of business including, but not limited to, employment, intellectual property, business organization, real estate acquisition, and commercial leasing and mergers and acquisitions as well as international business transactions. Ms. Garcia's practice encompasses both transactions and litigation. In her litigation practice, she appears regularly in state courts at all levels as well as in private forums such as arbitrations and mediations. Ms. Garcia has taught continuing legal education courses on the formation, taxation and operation of limited liability companies and limited liability partnerships in California and has educated business owners all over California. She is a member of the Pleasanton and Livermore Chambers of Commerce and is a founding member of the Eastern Alameda County Minority Chamber of Commerce. In 2004, Ms. Garcia was named to the top "40 Under 40" list of business persons by the East Bay Business Times. In 2006, she was featured in the Tri-Valley Herald newspaper, as well as in an Up Close feature by the East Bay Business Times. She earned her B.A. degree from the University of California at Berkeley and J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law. Ms. Garcia is a member of the State Bar of California (Employment, Litigation, Business and Real Property sections) and the American, the Santa Clara County, the Eastern Alameda, the Contra Costa County and the Hispanic National bar associations. She also belongs to the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Pleasanton North Rotary Club. DANIEL J. LEER is the principal of the Law Offices of Daniel J. Leer in Pleasant Hill, California. His primary focus is on federal, state and local tax law, including income tax, property and sales tax. Mr. Leer has structured venture investment funds, limited partnerships, corporations and limited liability companies in fields as diverse as online real estate marketing, online jazz reviews, small-cap Asian corporate investments, biotechnology startups, marketing services targeted to gay and lesbian consumers, and commercial and real estate investment. Mr. Leer has taught corporate tax at the Business School of Hayward State University and has lectured at continuing education seminars on topics including partnership law, tenancy-in-common and developments in federal income tax law. Mr. Leer is a member of the State Bar of California. He earned his J.D. degree from Boalt Hall School of Law (U.C., Berkeley), where he was a member of the California Law Review; his M.A. degree from the University of Chicago, where he was a Ford Fellowship Scholar; and his B.A. degree from the University of California, Berkeley. DANIEL B. NEWBOLD is an attorney in the Oakland law firm of Fitzgerald Abbott & Beardsley LLP and a member of the firm's Estates & Trusts Practice Group. Mr. Newbold focuses his practice on estate planning and business succession planning, including all aspects of gift and estate taxation planning, trust and estate administration, and exempt organizations, as well as trust and probate litigation. His experience includes drafting and administration of estate planning documents, such as revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, family partnerships, qualified personal residence trusts and charitable remainder and lead trusts. Mr. Newbold is a member of the San Francisco Estate Planning Council, the East Bay Trusts and Estates Lawyers (vice-chair, Estate Planning and Trust and Estate Administration Committee), and the State Bar of California (member, trusts and estates and taxation sections). He earned his B.S. degree from Arizona State University, his J.D. degree from Santa Clara University School of Law and his LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Washington. GERALD V. NIESAR is an attorney with the firm Niesar & Vestal LLP, where his practice has evolved primarily to the role of outside general counsel for private and mid-size public companies. He has extensive experience in all aspects of state and federal securities laws, mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, including bankruptcy reorganizations, partnership and joint venture transactions, general contract law, and administration of complex legal matters for businesses. Mr. Niesar is the co-author of California Limited Liability Company Forms and Practice Manual, Data Trace Publishers, Inc. (1st Edition 1994; supplemented annually 1995-2010). He has taught continuing education courses in the areas of securities law institutes, business law institute, partnerships, and developments in business law practice. Mr. Niesar earned his B.S. degree from the Wharton School of Finance & Commerce, University of Pennsylvania and his L.L.B. degree, cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law.
