DINA L. ANDERSON is of counsel to Guttilla Murphy Anderson P.C. and admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in Arizona and California. Mrs. Anderson received her J.D. degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 2001. She was formerly a partner at the law firm of Anderson & Nowak, PLC. Mrs. Anderson's practice focuses on bankruptcy, as she primarily represents Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustees and was herself appointed as Chapter 7 Panel United States Bankruptcy Trustee in May 2010. TIMOTHY H. BARNES practices law with Timothy H. Barnes, P.C. and is of counsel for the law firm of Brier, Irish, Hubbard & Erhart, P.L.C. in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Barnes earned his B.A. degree from the University of Iowa and his J.D. degree, cum laude, from Arizona State University. Mr. Barnes' practice involves a variety of commercial litigation matters (including commercial landlord-tenant, collection and commercial torts, contract, and real estate issues), as well as bankruptcy creditor, bankruptcy litigation and consumer collection matters. Mr. Barnes has received several honors for his pro bono work with the Maricopa County Volunteer Lawyers Program. HON. REDFIELD T. BAUM is a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge in Phoenix, Arizona. Judge Baum was a partner with the Phoenix law firms of Rawlins, Ellis, Burris and Kiewit from 1973 to 1980, and then with O'Connor, Cavanagh, Anderson, Westover, Killingsworth and Beshears from 1980 to 1989. His practice was primarily in commercial law, creditors' and debtors' rights, and bankruptcy/reorganization. He was appointed as the fifth bankruptcy judge for the District of Arizona in March 1990. DAVID A. BIRDSELL has been a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee for more than 20 years for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of Arizona (Phoenix area). Mr. Birdsell also serves as a receiver in the state court. He specializes in bankruptcy and solvency-related tax and accounting issues. Mr. Birdsell is a past president of the National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees. DIANE L. DRAIN is a sole practitioner in Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from the University of Arizona Law School in 1985. In 1990, Ms. Drain left the large firm practice and established one of the first woman-owned "boutique" firms, marketing it as a "referral firm" focusing in the areas of bankruptcy and real property. Ms. Drain practices primarily in the areas of creditor and debtor bankruptcy rights and commercial real estate development, workout, foreclosure and trustee's sales. In 1993, she established a consulting service to assist other lawyers in law office organization, administration, computerization, client development and staff education. Ms. Drain's community activities include developing and managing a volunteer lawyer's program at the Bankruptcy Court, participation in the Volunteer's Lawyers Programs, Law Week, Legal Assistance for the Elderly, and Volunteer Mediation Services. She is married, a mother and stepmother of four girls, and grandmother of four. LAWRENCE P. KARANDREAS graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in finance, and an emphasis in English. Mr. Karandreas also earned his J.D. degree from the University of Arizona. He worked in Tucson as an attorney in general practice for approximately four years and then moved to Phoenix and began his practice of bankruptcy law in 1992. In 2001, Mr. Karandreas opened his own law firm. He practices primarily in consumer as well as business Chapter 7 and 13 cases, along with managing a commercial trust. ILENE J. LASHINSKY was first appointed as U.S. Trustee for Region 14 in November 2002. She also has served as Interim U.S. Trustee for Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho and Alaska (Region 18). NOWAK is the sole shareholder of Trudy A. She also has been a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee in Arizona since September 2009 and has been appointed as a Chapter 11 Trustee in cases. From 2005 to 2009, Ms. Nowak was a partner in the law firm of Anderson & Nowak, PLC, and represented bankruptcy trustees, state court receivers, avoidance action defendants and creditors. From 1987 to 2005, she was an attorney and Assistant U.S. Trustee with the Office of the United States Trustee in Rochester, New York and Phoenix, Arizona. RANDY NUSSBAUM is a founding shareholder of Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C., a Scottsdale law firm specializing in complex and unusual bankruptcies, commercial litigation, construction and corporate law, estate planning, transactional, real estate, and tax law. Prior to starting Nussbaum Gillis & Dinner, P.C., Mr. Nussbaum was a principal of Jaburg & Wilk, P.C. for 17 years. He received his B.A. degree, cum laude, and his law degree from Arizona State University. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Bankruptcy, Real Estate and Construction sections), the Scottsdale Bar Association and the Maricopa County Bar Association. Mr. Nussbaum is a former director of the Scottsdale Bar Association, the current director of the Maricopa County Bar Association and chair of the Maricopa County Bar Foundation. He has handled debtor cases in the Bankruptcy Court in Phoenix since 1987. Mr. Smith is a previous lecturer in his areas of expertise and currently teaches business law at the University of Phoenix. GARY R. STICKELL is a sole practitioner in Phoenix. Mr. Stickell has been practicing law for 29 years and focuses his work in the area of consumer bankruptcy. He is a former assistant attorney general with the tax division of the Office of the Arizona Attorney General. Mr. Stickell is chair of the Consumer Debtor Committee of the State Bar of Arizona's Bankruptcy Section as well as a member of the Bar's Section on Family Law.
