DOUGLAS R. CHANDLER is an attorney in Phoenix, Arizona. After 40 years practicing at major regional law firms, Mr. Chandler now continues to practice as Douglas R. Chandler, Lawyer, PLC and as of counsel to Holden Willits PLC, an established firm whose emphasis is all aspects of construction law.” He also represents mortgage broker/bankers, banks, savings banks, insurance companies and other institutional lenders concerning lending, foreclosure, regulatory and compliance matters. Mr. Chandler's practice areas include real property, real estate finance, debtor/creditor, secured transactions, banking and financial institutions, commercial leasing and business law. He actively participated in preparing the 1989 and 2004 Reports of the Arizona Business Law Section Committee on Rendering Legal Opinions in Business Transactions. Mr. Chandler earned his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of San Francisco and his J.D. degree from The University of Michigan Law School. His published works included Arizona Secured Transactions Under Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, Data Trace Publishing Company, 2002, Supp., 2004. Mr. Chandler is a member of the State Bar of Arizona (Real Property and Business Law sections) and the Maricopa County Bar Association. ROBERT E. CIANCOLA is a sole practitioner and a member of the bars of Arizona and Connecticut. His practice is focused on estate planning, business law and taxation. In his tax practice, he represents and advises corporations, partnerships and individuals on federal, state and local tax issues, audits, appeals, litigation and planning. Mr. Ciancola also represents clients in buying or selling businesses; establishing and choosing corporations, S corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships; and in contractual matters. He is a member of the Tax, Business Law and Sole Practitioner/Small Firm sections of the State Bar of Arizona; the Arizona Tax Research Association; and is a past president of the Arizona Chapter of Tax Executives Institute, Inc. Mr. Ciancola has previously served a term on the Executive Counsel of the Estate Planning and Probate section of the Maricopa County Bar Association. He was selected as a "Southwest Super Lawyer" for 2008 and 2009. Mr. Ciancola has been a frequent presenter on estate planning, tax, trusts and probate issues before professional groups, and has written several articles. Mr. Ciancola is a graduate of Quinnipiac University and the University of Connecticut School of Law. DIANE L. DRAIN graduated from the University of Arizona Law School in 1985. In 1990 Ms. Drain left the large firm practice and established one of the first woman-owned "boutique" firms, marketing it as a "referral firm" focusing in the areas of bankruptcy and real property. Ms. Drain practices primarily in the areas of creditor and debtor bankruptcy rights and commercial real estate development, workout, foreclosure and trustee's sales. In 1993 she established a consulting service to assist other lawyers in law office organization, administration, computerization, client development and staff education. Since 1987, Ms. Drain has served as a faculty member in numerous county, state, national and professional seminars dealing in office management skills, bankruptcy and trustee's sale/foreclosure actions. Since 1988 she has been an instructor at the Arizona School of Real Estate where she teaches legal theory classes in bankruptcy and foreclosure. She is also an adjunct professor of law with the Phoenix School of Law. Ms. Drain has been a member of the Arizona State Bar Board of Governors for many years. She is also a member of the Bankruptcy Section, the Real Property Section and the Solo & Small Firm Section. Ms. Drain is a past president of the Maricopa Chapter of the Arizona Women Lawyer's Association, a past chair of the Solo Practitioner's Section of the Arizona State Bar, a past chair of the Maricopa County Continuing Legal Education program and the founding chairperson for the Arizona Trustee's Association. Ms. Drain was appointed to the Supreme Court's Commission on Technology in 2000 and has received the Arizona State Bar Member of the Year Award, and the Arizona State Bar President's Award. She was also featured in the Profiles section of the Arizona Business Gazette and on the cover of the Arizona Attorney magazine. Ms. Drain's community activities include developing and managing a volunteer lawyer's program at the Bankruptcy Court, participation in the Volunteer's Lawyers Programs, Law Week, and Legal Assistance for the Elderly and Volunteer Mediation Services. JOHN K. GRAHAM is a retired chief counsel of First American Title Insurance Company in Phoenix. He is a graduate of Indiana University and earned his law degree from the Indiana University School of Law. Mr. Graham has lectured on a variety of topics sponsored by the State Bar of Arizona, the Arizona Trustee's Association, the Land Title Association of Arizona and the Arizona Escrow Association concerning both title insurance and escrow accounts. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and the Maricopa County Bar Association. DON J. LAWRENCE JR. is the principal of the Lawrence Law Offices PLLC in Scottsdale. He has focused his practice in the areas of real estate litigation, loan mitigation & modification, foreclosure defense, debtor bankruptcy (Chapters 7 & 13), QDROs, and wills & trusts since 1997. Mr. Lawrence earned his B.A. degree at Indiana University, Bloomington and his J.D. degree, with honors, at Regent University School of Law. He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona CELESTE M. STEEN is a partner in the Tucson office of Lewis and Roca LLP. She has focused her practice in the areas of real estate, finance and lending, land development, and business law since 1996. Prior to entering private practice, Ms. Steen served as a law clerk to the Honorable William Browning in the U.S. District Court, District of Arizona. She is a past chair of the Executive Council of the Real Property Section, and a member of the board of directors for the Pima County Real Estate Research Council. Ms. Steen is also a member of the Tucson Commercial Real Estate Women, the State Bar of Arizona (member, sections on: Real Property; Business; Natural Resource and Environmental) and the Pima County Bar Association.
